I think there are a couple of issues happening here.

1. People are imposing their own preferences to the discussion. I personally beleive that there are features to all people that can be considered great, not so great etc. However, no entire race looks the same.

2. The topic of Slave owners and Black women is rooted in our history. Americans, Politicians will often coin slavery "a blemish on our society" but that being said we skip over what slavery was in the United States. White men were owners of property and its strange to think of a human as property but many black women, men and children were. In my family not only do many of my family have features that would be considered European but they also have extremely fair skin. But again, because of slavery are considered "black" because rules implemented.

Lastly, I think the other issue are that yes there are tons of ignorant people on these posts. Many are relegated to minimal or substand education and because of this will base personal experience as fact and will spread what they believe or their experiences as truth. But the truth of the matter is that Slavery was more than a blemish on nose of the United States it was a travesty that has not been rectified and openly discussed without "you people need to forget about this". This is American History and in order to avoid this from happening again we need to have an open discussion about it because what I read often time on these posts are archaic ideas of race and humanity.

White slave owners raped black women but I would also say that in any (not necessarily all) there were relationships with black women (way down low) but they happened. If one was to really look at African Americans we come in so many different shades and often mirror not only African features but European features as well.

It's a very touchy situation. Back in slavery times white people as we know obviously had control over everything, including the black women's bodies.They did whatever they wanted and thats why there are so many light skinned black people today.

Slave owners used to have sex with slave women to breed more slaves. However, after slavery ended there were many mixed race marriages in the US for the reason that before the 20th century almost everyone in the US was dirt poor. The US never became a wealthy nation until after the Progressives took control of the government away from the rich private citizens who owned government (law enforcement, fire protection, towns, and everything else) up to that point. More than 90% of white people were almost as broke as most black people.
If you doubt this, consider that if you could pay a mere $60 when the civil war broke out, you could buy your way out of the military draft. It was a very unpopular war. It was a war of aggression against the south, who merely wanted to secede and were not attacking the union at all. The sentiment among many whites was that it was a war to free the slaves and they didn't really care if the slave were freed or not.
That being the case, there were very very few who could afford the $60 so more than a million soldiers served in that war.
That being said: the sexual attraction between men and women was nothing like it is today. They both smelled foul by today's standards and most probably even smelled foul by their own standards at the time. Note that there wasn't any population boom until the 20th century started. A man and woman's main value to each other was how hard they could work, becaust that's what they had to do to survive. Black women were used to being hard workers, because the slave and post-slave periods were meritocracies. Unless they worked hard for their master or boss, they didn't get the best food, or the best place to sleep or clothes that were as good as the other people they worked with. They were punished by not getting good "things" for inadequate job performance.
White working males married many black women because they were good mates for that reason. They worked hard. The reward for black women was that they'd have husbands who weren't shunned by society and usually lived a better life than if they'd married a black man.
This changed after progressives gave working people control of their own governments. It wasn't until then that public employment created a middle class that made it so the people who worked as police, firemen, and other new jobs that were created didn't have to work as hard as they had previously and were even able to afford to buy their own homes. They also became mass consumers of products that only the rich classes could buy before that, and manufacturers of products became wealthy also.
The other side of that coin was that since white males didn't need to work as hard, they turned away from black women and racism became worse than ever.
Wilson was, if not a Klan member, certainly one of their biggest supporters. In 1922, there was a parade of over 50,000 klan members in front of the White House and about 1 in 8 American males was a klan member.
