Moving to Hazel Green

Hi all,

I have been thinkng about moving my family from Pittsburgh, Pa to Hazel Green so we can be closer to my sister and nephews. Any information about the area, nice places to buy a house and what the job market is like is greatly appreciated.

Hazel Green is a very nice area, however the MUCH slower pace and laid back attitude is hard to adjust to at first, also you really have to go into Huntsville for anything to do, especially on the weekends when everything except walmart is closed!!! But the fact is, people here are very nice and mostly honest. Drivers are more likely to be going too slow rather than too fast, but will slow to let you into traffic. Housing is extremely reasonable.

I live in Toney, just a few miles west of Hazel Green... I suggest moving outside of huntsville and north of it... SE huntsville housing is overpriced and ostentatious....south is Redstone Arsenal....Madison is west, but is now hemmed in by huntsville city limits...very affordable NEW houses in Monrovia, Toney, Hazel Green, Meridianville....but check out traffic when thinking about buying.....BRAC(Base Relocation Alignment comittee) is coming to huntsville(redstone arsenal) and is expected to bring 10,000 people to the arsenal by 2011.... Many engineering and technical jobs in the area....Google Cummings Research Park Huntsville and you can see listings of jobs at the company sites.....Adtran alone has almost 200.....good luck!

I have lived in Hazelgreen for about 9 years now.We recently lost everything to a house fire.

We have 3 kids,one in high school and two in the elementary school.We are very proud of our schools here and the drive into town isn't so bad.Only 20 minutes.We are looking to stay in Hazelgreen mostly because of the schools.
