My uncle disappeared in the Jeff-Viper area in the 1960s. Seems like killings in Eastern KY are no big deal. Is it part of the culture? Seems like these murders are often unsolved. Meaning that murderers are running around.

You're right there's more murderers running around these mountains than anybody will ever know! I don't understand why the police can't solve these cases.

seems the state police take these murder cases and know who did it and either won't do anything about it or get the wrong one. Remember the Sturgill Family in Leslie Co murder in 2004? the state police has plenty to get the people who did it and they arrested the wrong man and he's been in jail for 3 years for a crime he didn't do.

Hell they can't solve a crime they don't even know how to take fingerprints. My house was broke into and fingerprints where left by the druggie who broke in to steal for a fix. But they wouldn't, couldn't and had no idea how to. I thought how damn hard can it be to lift a print and run it. Must be extremely difficult for our officers.

its bad we got all these Barny Fith wanna be's as county and city cops in our counties in eastern Ky but our Kentucky State Police are a joke, I lost all respect for KSP along time ago. They ain't worth the air they breath much less the crap there uniforms are made of and them dang badges go straight to there heads.
It would shock me if they knew how to take a finger print. My car was broken into and there was prints all over it and even caught the woman with my wallet and Cell phone and they still wouldn't do anything.

Cops in Perry County are to worried about the small time drug dealers and the dope heads to solve a murder. Dont get me wrong if you break the law ,you get caught, you do your time but theres so much more going on than dope. And not all crimes are committed because of dope like everyone seems to think. We have several murders that are not being looked at because cops are to busy chasing dope.
Case in point- Debbie Eckles and Mark Wells. Most drug dealers and dope heads will eventually kill each other or OD- problem solved. Its a sad fact but still a fact. Why not focus on true crimes such as our county officals who are as dirty as the dealers or our cold cases of murder and child molesters that walk our streets. In no way am I up holding the drug problem here but to many crimes go unsolved due to all the focus on dope. And way to much money being spent by the drug task force just to turn the dealers and doppies back out on the streets. We the ppl pay for all of this. Instead of giving dealers 3 meals a day and a place to sleep I'd like to give the Wells and Eckles family some peice of mind by bringing the killers to justice.
This is just my opinion bu I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way !!!

Roy & Wanda Campbell murder that has not been solved yet. No person has ever done more for the people of Hazard than Roy so you would think the detectives would have already solved this. I heard they had a lot of evidence but was just waiting for the right time.

Roy Asher was murdered in Leslie County nine years ago today. arrests were made based on evidence such as, an eye witness identified two people, murder weapon was left behind and traced back to the two identified suspects grandfather, eye witnesses identify the vehicle used and testify that the suspects were driving, witness accounts of threats made prior to murder, etc. etc. after arrest were made on two suspects, one suspects father went to state police and tried to take the blame for his son by actually confessing on tape that it was him and the grandfather of the suspects that actually killed Roy and went into detail on tape. The trial was presided over by former Judge Cletus Maricle, who is now in federal prison for 26 years for racketeering among many other charges. At the conclusion of the trial, not guilty verdicts were handed down, which cost approximately $100,000 for each suspect, and no other indictments were ever handed down despite taped confessions and all the evidence. Judge Maricle is the only one who is where he deserves to be.As for The rest hopefully karma will smack em in the face. They took the life of a great man who would have anyone the shirt off of his back. You sure made a good point in your post. Politics corrupt the Government and the Courts. No one in Eastern Kentucky can depend on a fair Government and they cannot depend on a fair Court. People should not have to live this way. All the corrupt officials need to be jailed.

if you have evidence proving this man is not guilty you need to get it to the correct ppl even if you have to write him a letter an let him get his lawyer or a lawyer involved because no one should serve time for a crime they did not commit while the actual person who did it is walking around scott free

My daughter was molested by a family member in March of 2011. He was indicted by the grand jury in May for 1st degree sexual abuse on a child. His arraignment was set right after. However, he has never been arrested!! The law knows right were he is and won't go get him! I have talked to the prosecutor and the detective,(Clayton Stamper) countless times, and i am getting really fed up. This family member has an uncle who is retired from the state police, and also a cousin who is an active state police officer. I don't know what else to do, but the shit is getting ready to hit the fan. This place is more corrupt than most people will ever know!! They will let child molesters walk free, while putting people committing small offenses in jail!! Does anyone have any advice??

My grandfather was digging a ditch working for the city in the 1940's.A co-worker hit him in the head with a shovel and he died right there in the dirt.I looked up his death record,it was written so badly that you cannot tell the name of the Dr.or hardly any information on the incident. He left a wife and two small children.Needless to say nobody saw a thing.COLD BLOODED MURDER.The Dr.,coroner and everybody there knew.A family was destroyed that day,my mother never got over it.My grandmother remained a widow till she died of old age.
