They sent us men that worked there for years home so there little sucks from Pike and Pburgh wouldn't get laid off first. Just be glad somebody is willing to invest in this business to keep some of you working and by the way I dont care how long you been on a job if you aint worth keeping your going to be gone. Do your damn job and take some pride in it and quit feeling like somebody owes you something because they dont.

Mitch Potter & his group are excellent coal operators, Mitch's dad was one of the kings of Pike County, they flat out poured the coal back in the 90's & employed tons of people. Mitch has continued to be very successful in the coal industry after all these years. Guys like him & Jim Booth, even Jeff Hoops are the only guys who are going to truly show a profit mining coal these days, they know every aspect of the coal business & can make it work. Dave Duff was one hell of a coal operator I'd say the headache & constant struggle he faced trying to battle the enemies & regulations they're nailing the coal industry with these days makes it tough on any man, I'd say he's had a great career to look back on, he's done so much for perry county, diversified the family's business interests, & is going out with a great name. He's selling to a local coal mogul, Mitch Potter, who's family is one of the top coal people for years & years. He turned the assets of that joke of a company Black Diamond into a well functioning outfit, I'm sure he & his key guys will keep Pine Branch going well. My family owned several coal mines in east KY & WV & I was around the business up until we sold out in 2010, both the Potters & Duffs are top notch coal & business people & my opinion on this deal is that it was a great one. Dave Duff & his son I'm sure will remain major key business figures in Hazard & Potter is just expanding south. My honest opinion is that Booth, Potter, & Hoops should control all of the mining operations in eastern KY, you talk about a very healthy coal industry eastern KY would have then.

I bet it will be shut down within six monthes. They don't have as clue how to mine coal or run a operation this size.

Has anyone said if the old truckers were going to be able to stay and haul, or are they going to bid the job? Ive heard it both ways. I don't truck there but have buddies that do. I hope they don't lose their jobs.
