Cronin House

Can anyone give me some background history of the old cronin house on depot road in Hayward?

I know that the property is used as a drug rehab now but,I also notice that the house itself has been boreded up for years.

The family has people buried in the graveyard across the street. This is just an assumption, but they were probably one of the founding members of the town. The area just north has a lot of super expensive houses, so that was probably the residences of the farmers. I haven't been able to find any historical data on the family either. I could probably get birth and death records from City Hall or something, but yeah, riiiiight. Not with my schedule.

The old "mansion" was used as a psych hospital for a while, rumor has it that Marilyn Monroe and Joe Dimaggio spent some time there, although I can't back that up. The mansion is condemned, but is a historical landmark so it can't be torn down. The property is currently owned by Horizon Services and the other buildings are being used as a substance abuse treatment facility.

how would i get information on this mansion to possibly purchase and restore or mabey lease?

I too am interested in this property and would donate rime in restoring the place.Somebody please do something,it is REALLY in bad shape.The windows on the back are rotting and ready to fall out and when it rains the water just pours in the back.Can we get a group of old house lovers together and some national historic registry help to save this place?E,ail me and put Cronin House in the title.Lindashipp516@aol.com.Th anks

Email me and I will donate time to restore.HAve gloves will travel.Am in Castro Valley.I was raised in Hayward about 5 blocks east of the house and hate to see this place fall into ruin.I drove onto the property and looked at it from the back which is really bad.Go to the property and go inside and see it from the little basketball court in back.I saw it in the rain and it broke my heart.Water was pouring in.Someone needs to go put plastic on the back and the roof.Who do we talk to about this?I emailed the drug place but they don't answer.Help.I'm at Lindashipp516@aol ,you have to put Cronin House in the title for me to answer.com Being a psych house it has to be haunted now but what the hey,makes working on it more fun.We can get a group or rehabbers together and with a labor of love it can be saved.I know of a store that sells used old house supplies locally and they are so reasonable and alot of their stuff is from victorian mansions.I just bought a big built in cupboard from the 20s for 40.00 from them.
