Burnout affects caregivers, and volunteers are supporting an altruisic value that cannot satisfy anything but the pusuit of Death. The point is that the effort needs not only funds but more volunteers. So readers of the T-S, not foreign bloggers, must step forward. That will be the day. Search the Churches and the other people of faith. One other problem is that the caregivers need regular checkups for their own health maintenance. Be careful driving in the Ruth Lake neighborhood.

Social Security never gets cut- it might get reduced for an overpayment and even that would be limited to much less than half of a persons payment . And Medicare never had dental coversge.
So this man gets SSI and Medical which are welfare programs for those who never paid much if anything into the social security system and are based on income and resources. Now Medical that is likely to have been cut due to the California budget crunch. He probably will now be able to get some Social Secuity due to his age and that will offset some but not all of the SSI he gets. Thinks that don't get mentioned- hmmmm.......... |

Lets see here. If you're young and healthy and don't work much but drink, smoke, toke up alot instead, you're a bum. But if you can continue living like that until you get sick and with a illness due to your lifestyle choices, you're a object for compassion.
Seems to me a lot of the "empty nester" women want to have someone dependent on them to "baby". A bedridden and feeble "sick " person is just the ticket. As opposed to a healthy person drinkin' and druggin' and raising Cain and not reliably around whenever some helper feels like they need something "take care of". If you have a urge to feel "needed", weak and sickly people are essential to getting your needs fulfilled. Rather than spending so many of societies resources on terminally ill, let them expire naturally and quickly of their self induced illnesses. |

Sick, sick sentiment. Really. It costs you nothing that others show compassion. And still you can't stand it. You ridicule and belittle them. What can you offer? Nothing but hate and resentment. So sad. |

so do i understand correctly: PeopleSpeak, Not Quite Right and Whose Benefit, is it your thought that our society would be better if we provided no safety net? when people fail the test of Social Darwinism, we go ahead and let them die? in the streets? in a specially designated paupers place? how do we dispose of their bodies? how do we reconcile this with Christ's lesson:
"Come, enter the Kingdom. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was sick and you visited me." Then Jesus will turn to those on His left hand and say, "Depart from me because I was hungry and you did not feed me, I was thirsty and you did not give me to drink, I was sick and you did not visit me." These will ask Him, "When did we see You hungry, or thirsty or sick and did not come to Your help?" And Jesus will answer them, "Whatever you neglected to do unto one of these least of these, you neglected to do unto Me!" ? obviously i disagree with you, but i am also truly curious. |

This is an amazing organization. This is a remote and thinly populated area and to have this many people step up to the plate is incredible. On a per capita basis it is a great response for a real need in our community.
From elderly couples with terminal, debilitating illness, to giving respite to a spouse who is the sole caretaker for their disabled partner, to assisting those referred to them from the clinic, the TRCCG fills a universal need with unconditional compassion. We have a number of volunteer fire, safety, and medical organizations in our area, and amazing community members who support for each other in times of need. I hope all communities have similar organizations and committment. |
