What started out as a few locals setting up for free on the dirt lot on Hwy 64 to have yard sales has turned into a Flea market full of Freeloaders who are putting legitimate local landmark Flea Markets and tourist draws out of Business. These people are not having Yard sales but are Full Fledged professional dealers who (most) do not even live in Murphy Hauling in tractor trailer loads of merchandise. I walked thru on a Saturday and fewer than 10% had a North Carolina tag, I saw tags from Dalton,Clayton, Chattsworth,Gilmer Ga,, Sweetwater,Niota,Athens, Cleveland , Chattanooga TN. as well as Pickens S.C. They are coming into our town making money and leaving without paying rent, taxes or spending a dime in this county .Being allowed to sell whatever they want, I saw hand guns being sold as well as porno movies , drug paraphernalia and cooked food without any health inspection. Not to mention the dangerous driving conditions it has created on that stretch of Hwy. I guess it will take someone getting killed out there before something is done about it.
You are a liar. I go to that raod side flea market EVERY day there is good weather and have never seen hand guns, drug paraphanalia, nor cooked food except for pork rinds which are fried and that kills any germs. The Tuesday flea market in Murphy is dead thanks to the high prices the vendors charge and they never even say thanks. You have an agenda - you probably own an antique store and over charge for everything. You are also a coward as you are posting here without using your full name. All local flea markets draw people from the tristate area. Stay over in Franklin as your kind is not wanted here - no doubt you are one of the gawking rubber neckers that got in the way of emergency responders here in Murphy after the storm - your real name is Rascal Flats on this forum.

No one has ever died from smoking pot.
500,000 die every year from tobacco.
100,000 die every year from alcohol.
150,000 die every year from prescription drugs.
The government subsidizes alcohol and tobacco because of their tax benefits and approves the prescription drugs people die from.

Hey fool, just look at the present economy ... America is a capitalist society .... the owner of that land has given his permission for the vendors to set up there .... mind your own business.

No, Mr. Foster does NOT own the land ... if he did he wouldn't be setting up a free flea market in competition with his paying vendors.

Sounds like you are the liar, I have been to Tuesday market and everyone is friendly and very nice, also found most prices reasonable, the reason it is not as busy is because now there is a market up the road that doesn't charge rent. I stopped by the place on 64 once and was shocked when i heard a dealer offer a teenage girl 20 bucks for a blow/ job and yes this really happened.I also found prices on most things out there to be high considering no one has to pay rent.

The dealer who did that is not allowed to set up there any more.

This post is obviously a lame attempt to put the sellers along HWY 64 in a bad light. Anyone can see through this . The poster is either a dealer at the other failing flea markets or might own one though I suspect the writer is in desperate financial straights. He thinks people are stupid and naive enough to fall for this pack of lies. The sellers at the flea market along the side of the road are just people who cannnot find a job in this area with it's high unemployment rate. Many places are going out of business. Everyone spends their money at Walmart instead of the small stores.

They are not people who can't find a job in this area, most of them are not even from this area. They are all dealers who do this for a living getting a free ride.

The only thing failing is your lame attempt to make it sound like the other markets are not doing well. This past winter Fosters was rebuilding and Deckers was expanding and improving there market. Fosters is now at full capacity and is adding outdoor covered tables to keep up with the demand, Deckers is filling up for the spring as well with all the inside booths rented and the outdoor covered areas are filling up quickly. I was there this past weekend and it was very busy at both flea markets.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Capricorn

You feel like overindulging yourself in some way today, and why not? Throw caution to the wind and eat your way through a big bar of chocolate, or have a retail therapy session that leaves you reeling from the amount of money you've spent. There's a definite chance you could get carried away and tell a whopper of a story that has little resemblance to what really happened. What on earth has got into you?
