Why did they need a trial with this video. The Constitution should be amended to read that if you have a video of torture that person will get the death penalty without a trial.

Let him get life in prison with the worst of them. Keep him alive to live every rotten day and beg for death himself.
we should not give him the death penalty, that isnt enough punishment for him.yes we should lock him up the rest of his life in prison ,they will make his life a living h ell .but i think the victims famikly should be able to decide what to do they are the ones who need closer not us.those poor children my heart goes out to the entire family.i also think the judge should have honored the fathers wishes about the video, this family was the victims and they are going to have to live with this horrible horrible tragedy the rest of their lives not us.my heart goes out to them.

It's disturbing to live in a world with people like this guy, AND with people who can easily think of torturing HIM the same way he did his victims.

We all have a little bit of the beast in us.

If all such crimes came with handy video tape, it would be a lot easier for me to support the eye-for-an-eye business. If we could be absolutely certain of the guilt of the defendant, we could carry out such sentences without becoming like the people we're punishing.

It kills me inside that I can think of so many detailed ways in which I'd cheerfully disassemble this guy, meticulously so as to cause maximum pain with minimum risk of killing him too soon. It kills me that he even exists.

From the posts here, I'm not the only one. We walk a fine line.

If we could be certain of guilt or innocence for everyone accused of crimes like this, we wouldn't risk our humanity by setting up death camps for them.

That's why we don't have heads on stakes outside courtrooms.

Wow...I'm actually left almost speechless about this. The entire article has my head spinning! This is one evil mamma-jamma. The upsetting part(s) of this is our judicial system for being just incredibly blase about this the first time it occurred. The next is our jails. Protect this cretin?! Are you f'n kidding me?! Where was Dylan's protection? Why on God's green earth would anyone feel the need to protect this monster? It baffles and boggles the mind! I agree with just about all posts in this forum. Death, death, death. Slow, painful, long, whatever. I do believe the father has quite a few ingenious ways he'd like to try out on this sumbitch, why not let him at it? Our entire judicial system needs a complete overhaul, especially when it comes to these freaks. It takes a true inhuman intellect and heart to do that to a screaming, begging, defenseless child and actually take pleasure in it. If you are not angered by this story to want to see or even PAY to see this sicko executed, you may want to check your heart and see if it's still beating. Un-be-liev-able. If anything, his execution should be broadcast on the TV, the net, iPods, anything. Deterrent, and since we're paying (god, we're actually PAYING for this monster to be in jail, to feed him, clothe him, and *hack* protect him), we may as well "get our money's worth" somehow. Ugh, this entire thing makes me ill beyond words, mostly mentally, but even slightly physically. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering the family has been through, and I'm not religious at all, but my prayers are with them all.*shakes head* Unreal.

You bring up a very interesting point, meowcat. I agree with your line (and I like it as well), "we all have a little of the beast inside us." Aye, we do. However, even with the 'beast in us' there is a line i see. This sub-human used it in a malicious, evil way. Against a child. We here,(and i cannot nor am i trying to speak for everyone), feel that way out of justification towards the evil he committed. Aye, we all have the beast, i do myself, but it is a controlled beast. Unleashed when it is right to do so--and I feel, as many others here do as well, that times like this we should allow a bit of beast to come through. I understand what you're saying, but we are different from this whack-job. This entire ordeal is unlike any horror movie i've ever seen, and to know that it's reality gives me chills. Unleash the beast within. Let him peek out. For me, there's never been a better time (nor reason) than this one.

Thanks for putting it so eloquently. I do wonder how much good results from revenge torture, for the families of victims.

If I get detached and rational about this case (or try to), I lean towards a bullet in the back of the head at point-blank range. He's not going to learn a lesson from any amount of pain/torture, or if he did, it does the rest of us no good. It doesn't bring back the dead or undo the damage.

Yet, again, I would gladly do everything to him that was done to his victims, a hundred times over if I could keep him breathing and conscious.

Publicizing so many details of the story, and especially how he let himself be caught, could give others like him the knowledge they need to keep from getting busted. I don't know of a way around that.

However, if the perp had molten lead poured into his eye sockets and his ears and were fed on shavings of his own flesh and bones until there was nothing but a head and torso, then fed his uncooked genitals and left in the desert with the ants, snakes, flies, and his kidneys backing up, and it were all done on camera...

...it might deter others who contemplate treating children the way he did.:)

Anyway, thanks for your thoughtful response. I believe there are at least 5.5 billion people on this Earth who are shocked to their toenails by this kind of thing for everyone who can hear such news and shrug.

The fact that the jurors cried, and so many on here are so outraged, makes me love the human race all the more, in spite of the monsters.

well said meowbot. I responded to your earlier post because amongst all the 'kill him' posts, yours jumped out to me as thought provoking, especially with that previously mentioned line. That caught my eye and got me thinking. I don't think there's a soul among us that wants this creature alive one more second than need be. These sometimes are the best topics to comment on, because most people are in agreement, lol. Things tend to get nasty when you have conflicting opinions such as politics and religion. But this, there's almost no other opinion to have. I did enjoy your post the most, though. Just thought I'd tell you that.

I agree with this 100%!

As much as I am ashamed that our country is able to produce this kind of mentality, I am thankful that he is caught and at some point, the screams, pleadings, and fear he caused will drown him before he takes his last breath.

May God have mercy on Shasta.

One day at church I was watched a recording of Dr. Dobson interviewing Ted Bundy before he was executed. Ted Bundy was a changed man - he believed in Jesus. So I hope this guy in Idaho also believes. There is no sin that is too big for the cross. But that doesn't mean that I don't think the guy should pay for what he did on earth.

Well if they now believe in Jesus, they should look upon their impending execution as simply sending them to the Savior and should be happy about it.

Personally I'm always suspicious of prison born agains.

It never ceases to amaze me---should he be killed? Hell yea if we can interogate/torture people in war why shouldn't we do this to this sick f---ker! why is it that when some robs a bank they get more time in prison than if someone rapes a woman, molests a child or kills an animal. Until we value human life more than we do money, and protect the most vulernable in our society this will continue to happen. Why even waste tax dollars on a trial--God it's on video. Let the kids father do whatever he wants and forever how long he wants to him as his ultimate punishment.

*ROLLS EYES* Good lord, the ol' "Help me Jeebus, I've been a'saved! I seen the errors of my ways, and I believe!" Yeah, ok. I believe this act is part of the Criminal's Handbook. Funny how they don't admit how they're 'saved' and how they've 'seen the light' until after they've been sentenced to life in prison or sentenced to be executed. Oh, THEN reality sets in and they pull this last-ditch effort of an Ace card out of the hole in some pathetic attempt to buy compassion--and morons like the bible-thumpers and save the world whether they want to be saved or not all but scream for this 'changed' person to be set free or given another chance. Here's an idea: You're so convinced this monster is now an angel of Jesus? Let him live with you until he gets on his feet--it's What Jesus Would Do, right? Go for it, then, idiot. You can't seriously be this blind, naive, or gullible.

Agree Totally. How much more incriminating evidence do you possibly need? And if it's horrific enough to make others just break down and weep over it, why is this scumbag still using my oxygen to stay alive? He should be punished in the most painful, yet creative way(s) possible. I, myself, rather enjoy the idea of leaving the fathers to him to do as they please. Believe me, they would exact the correct form(s) of justice this P.O.S. deserves.

Linda, post #110 was not directed directly at you, but others who believe these cretins are actually 'changed' people and cry pardon for them. I did note that you say he should be punished, and I applaud that, so please don't take all the "You's" in my post as being directed at you personally. Sorry I wrote it that way, I realized how directional it sounded after I reread it.

Cry Your Pardon,
Roland
