Sounds real fishy to me. I bet you these two commissioners who changed their minds are Guidi puppets. Pretty fishy, just like a Sopranos episode.

The commission meets again on Monday Night, maybe everyone should go and ask who were the ones who changed their minds and why. I am sure there was pressure and the two commissioners are weak and were influenced. If this is the case I believe they should be excused and replaced.

call in the F.B.I. doesn't the F.B.I. have a web site to report corrupt officials.

Its not about that at all...its about the violation of the procedures set in place, and the influencing of a independent and impartial citizen commission by city officials. Simply put, any due process ANY employee has in Hawthorne is now gone....because there are only 3 people in power there and they just proved everyone's suspicion...Its like a judge coming back to a jury, 3 weeks after they found a suspect innocent, and then telling them to now find him guilty...its wrong and its corrupt

The whole point of a commission is to be autonomous from corrupt officials like Pathirana, Guidi, Heffner, and Miyahira. Those individuals, to quote another reader, are ‘like the Sopranos.’ They are nothing but a bunch of morons who abuse their positions and trust. Heffner hides behind his chief’s badge and desk, and he, along with Miyahira do as they are told by Pathirana and Guidi. To hear that Pathirana ‘berated the commission members’ certainly sounds like witness intimidation and he and his other coconspirators should be charged accordingly. All of them should be recalled and sent home packing. Pathetic system and times in Hawthorne that is out of control and is forever ruined by the people like John Gotti, I mean Guidi and his merry fat bunch of thugs like Heffner, Miyahira, and worst of all, Pathirana. You guys will get yours in due time, the wheels of justice are slow, but they are turning…..

1st Marine you are a loser, plain and simple. You are not a Marine, you never were and never will be. You talk about mamma's boys, well pal, look in the mirror, you are the international poster boy for a mamma's boy. At least these cops have done something in their career. You coward. Oh look, it's all about police brutality! Wow, oh the humanity! No complaint ever made by the so called turd who got an ass-whooping that he deserved. No chagres brought against officers after being exonerated by LA DA and an external investigation by LA Sheriffs. Get out of your office and do something for a change, another Heffner clone. How's janitor boy tasting? Probably like Campbell's soup - mmmmm, good!

Why are the hearings behind closed doors?

Wow,, really sounds like this could be the final episode in the the Guidi-Soprano saga. Can you hear Foreigner's "Don't Stop Believin" in the background?

Remember "Guidi" in Italian is plural for Guido. Capiscono?

Dear Is that you Robles - You need to get over it and it seems you must be a bit jealous of the guy. It is most likely you that is not liked by his peers and is probably such a loser, you might even be the chief of police. You are the disgrace and you can't even put your name on here. What are you afraid of, showing your true colors to your peers? PS If you have seen this officer be dishonest in everything he does, who's the bigger thug - you or him? I say you for not doing anything about it, another coward..you just scored one for the ACLU in believing the 'code of silence' crap. Nice going, idiot!

first and foremost this is not about robles. anyone who really knows him would know he is a great cop probably the hardest worker we have and im not talking about chicken shit movers and parkers which im sure is how you promoted. second of all robles would be the first one to show up to back you whether he liked you or not, because he wont be responding from starbucks like im sure you would be. most importantly this is not about robles or vian. its about an unfair civil service system that was swayed due to pressure from the city manager as well as im sure the mayor and chief. here we have five civil service members, mostly older people in their 60's and 70's. most of the members attend the hawthorne coucil meetings and have a good reputation throughout the community. now we have the city manager yelling at them and making them feel like they made a bad decision when half these members could be jag's parents. realistically they made a decision after reviewing the facts presented. that should have been the end of it.but hawthorne couldnt just let it go because there pride was hurt. just remember you may need the civil service members someday and you would want to be treated fairly also

If the City Manager did try to get two of the Civil Service Commissioners to change their vote it would have been at the direction of Mayor Guidi. Acting in secret, outside the civil service hearing process is the same as jury tampering. Whether the two police officers are guilty of excess force has now been overshadowed by possible tampering by at least the city manager and once an investigation starts, it could involve the mayor and police chief. Once the DA gets involved, I hope the two civil service commissioners who changed their vote will not take part in a Guidi instigated cover up, but will instead come forward and tell the DA investigator the truth about any effort by Mayor Guidi or anyone on his staff who tried to tamper with the voting processes. As Nixon found out with Watergate, cover-ups don’t stay covered up for long.

I manage apartments in the city of Hawthorne. I have on two occasions met Officer Robles. Once in 2003, Robles responded as back up. Again in 2008, where Robles acted alone, Tomatani arrived as back up after Robles realized his misconduct was being recorded. Robles is/was overly aggresive, hostile, and it was obvious he was going to cause problems. If he couldnt control himself when no crime had taken place, and I was polite, I can only guess what he would do in other situations. In his defense though, I tried to warn the department and on no less then 10 occasions I tried to file a complaint. Not only would the department not take a complaint, the were rude insulting, and finally arrested me to protect the "permanent record" of a few dishonest officers. I was offered a check from the city after my arrest, which I accepted. They also put the complaint forms within reach of citizens in the lobby. However they still refused to accept and document acts of misconduct on the part of officers. So if you set an example that is equally offensive as Robles' conduct, its not all that fair for you to expect him to act professionally. My experience is the watch commanders refuse to investigate their officers, so the officers act accordingly. With just a little bit of supervision I think Robles would be very professional. But when officers like Swain openly intimidate and arrest citizens who were abused in the first place, rather then accept their complaint, its only a matter of time before the officers follow suit.

Good Job Mike on your press comment!!!!!!! Keep up the good work! Police work is one of those deals that's easily second guessed. Just look at how long it took the Susp to victimize another family. Maybe more households should have guns to end the problem just inside the door!!!!
