Guidi uses these smoke screen tactics to try and hide his corruption. Look at www.mayorguidi.com and www.guidiwatch.com to see all the bad things this mayor has done. The Hawthorne Police even know this, that is why they are NOT endorsing Guidi and his two council candidates, Monteiro and Valentine. The bad part is that Guidi is an egomaniac, he thinks people like him Developers and special interests give him money because he is for sale. Let's get rid of this moron, vote for the other guy, Juarez!

He has also taken away the appointments of commissioners from the council members and now HE is the only one who can appoint a commissioner! They all do his bidding. Also anyone is city hall who ever opposed him has been fired and jobs consolidated and given to those who are loyal to Guidi. He intimidates business owners as well...just ask some of them...people should not fear the mayor...He works for them not the other way around...18 yrs is enough, absolute power corrupts absolutely

Keep up the good work Guidi the city has improved in its appearance and the way it’s been operating for the last 9 years. Especially during this recession.

Hawthorne is a giant ghetto thanks to Guidi. You can't walk the f'ing streets at night for fear of getting mugged or worse. Even the nicer neighborhoods are being overrun by violent criminals. Guidi's answer?? More high density housing and sweetheart deals for campaign contributors. The guy is a C-student high school grad with a limited grasp for fixing the real problems in the city.

Citizens of Hawthorne - dump this turd once and for all. Its time for different leadership. I don't know Danny Juarez but he has GOT to be better than this criminal Guido (and his luddite stooge Lambert).

Taken from their own personally approved mailers:
Each show about 30 individual endorsements:
Supporting Danny Juarez...
...75-80% are actual Hawthorne residents of note who endorse Danny Juarez for mayor.
for Larry g:
...Only 15% of his endorsements are from actual residents who live in Hawthorne
Is it more important to have endorsements from:
-politicians of other cities that compete directly with Hawthorne for Gov funding & businesses?
- OR the ENDORSEMENTS of the PEOPLE who LIVE in HAWTHORNE?
Go Danny

For those that don't know, Danny Juarez is a very community focused guy and really loves this city. Most importantly, he is a resident of Hollyglen and understands the importance of maintaining a SAFE and clean neighborhood. He will have 95% of the Hollyglen vote for obvious reasons...

Meanwhile, Guidi will be rolling out every thug from the projects to the polls.

If you look at Guidi's campaign contribution reports you see only developers and special interests. So all those many mailers you're getting in the mail are developers desperately trying to keep their guy in power. He's for sale to the highest bidder. No conscience at all, and he will lie to the people. Don't trust someone when they have to tell you to trust in them. Trust is earned and MR. Guidi has failed Hawthorne. We are tired and we need a change! Vote Juarez!! Ask yourself why the police can't trust Guidi

I am awaiting the news that a parents group from Jefferson Elementry has filed a class action lawsuit against Larry Guidi and the HSD for the photo he used of children from the school holding a photoshoped banner thanking him. I myself com ing from a photo journalism background, know that in ordr to use a photo of anybody for advertising or promotions you need to get a photo waiver. I am positive that he did not get the parents of all 200 or so students to sign anything before he exploited them in his mailer of deception. If my child was in that photo I would be putting a call into Mr. Carringtons office asking him how the district let this happen.
This is just another example of the criminal activities that Ol' Mayor Greedy has sunk to in an attempt to not get booted out of office.

Mayor Guido. Are you for real? Hawthorne is a pit. Take a look around at the schools, streets, neighborhoods, crime, gangs, etc. It's a mess of a city and not a desirable place any longer.

I support Larry Guidi for Reelection. He wont fall pray to the unions asking for raised in a time of recession. He is the only candidate that has refused to dip into the city's emergency fund to pay for raises.

Protect our city. We need more financial responsibility - not open promises to give raises to unions.

Vote for Larry Guidi

Amazing how people who don't live in Hawthorne, CA root for change in everybody else's cities. What do they know. Take Juarez; he's been on the council for two years and we have yet to see him suggest any changes east of the 405 Freeway. He lives in Holly Glen and that's where his interest lies. The Vargas brothers are running for council and school board. Alex is president of the No. Haw. Community Assn. and his brother, John, is treasurer of the same association. Conflict of interest??? Where are all the complainers who have never attended a council meeting, probably don't or can't vote in Hawthorne's local elections. Come Nov. 4 it'll all be over and may the victors remember the people of Hawthorne. No one established any promises, they just want to get in.

Why is that people seem to think the only way you can be informed about city politics/happenings is by attending city council meetings? These meetings are televised on cable tv for a reason. Any resident wishing to be informed can watch these meetings in the comfort of their living room. Just because residents don't attend City Council meetings doesn't mean they are uninformed and can't voice their opinion. Any intelligent and interested person can read the newspaper and watch tv to find out first-hand what is going on and keep abreast of City happenings. I'd bet far more residents watch the meetings on tv than those that attend in person.

It's time for change. Vote Juarez!!!

It's true, one could watch Cable Chan. 22 if they had cable, or, read the newspaper if every issue of the council decisions was posted there provided one gets a newspaper. By mid November the council meeting will be available via the city website as an added benefit, provided one has a computer. Of course if you have none of the above, I suggest attending the council meetings. Thank you Mr. "Informed" from Manhattan Beach. You can't vote for Hawthorne Mayor or council.

Isn't Lennox Hawthorne's sister city to the north? What's the difference between the two? Can anything good come out of Lennox? Why can't people see reality and realize it doesn't matter anymore. Although Guido is a bad mayor, to be sure, it won't matter if anybody else takes the office. The whole city is a mess.

You are insane! You sound foolish for even saying this especially since Guidi receives money from unions and is endorsed by several unions!! The following is taken from his own mailers he is sending out: These are the unions: 1) UA Local Union 250 Steam/Refrigeration/Air Conditioning/Pipefitters 2) Teamsters Local #42 3) LA Cty Firefighters Local 1014 4) INternational Ass. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, District 725 5) Ray Cordova Chair South County Labor, AFL-CIO 6) LA Cty Federation of Labor This is proof enough that he has sold himself to unions. I'm voting for Juarez because the our Police trust him

Cottonwood (pop. 4,400) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Shasta County, California, United States. Cottonwood is also considered an "unincorporated community" in Tehama County, California. Cottonwood is a stagecoach town founded in 1882.
The Cottonwood caller has nothing better to do than rant on people in other cities, so lead on McDuff and get your kicks cause this is the last time I will respond to you. No more fuel for the fire.

BigA22..
The Vargas' situation for the N. Hawthorne Community Association
is not defined a conflict of interest. I believe you are old enough to
remember the Kennedy white house, JFK was President, his younger
brother Robert was the Attorney General. Vargas' are giving back to
Hawthorne in the same way, with their time and energy, working to make the city of their birth a better place. They have tough issues over there, I know 'cause I've worked with them (yep, a Hollyglener east of the 405!)
They started the NHCA to help their neighborhood, and it has made a
difference, just "ask around, people love them." (good slogan, huh?:-)

So, BigA, let's show some class, and discuss solutions to the issues when in reference to AFV & JFV. Don't sling bogus "conflict of interest" mud, please.

I'll even give you an incentive... stop slinging mud and just talk about the issues, and I'll pay you out of my own pocket "a cut" of the NHCA's HUGE $92 account balance (up from $88 in Sept). Where do I send the $9.20 check?:-)

And to everyone else, remember to vote Nov 3 and encourage a friend... Hawthorne is a better place with the neighborhoods working together.
