Typical Guidi. A few years ago, he wanted Hawthorne to opt out of posting County Health Department restaurant grades because his buddy who owns a pizza shop couldn't get decent grades. He instructed the city attorney to draft the ordinance, but was alarmed by the public outcry at the council meeting when it came time to vote.
The public was ticked-off and CBS and NBC news brought cameras to cover the vote. Embarrassed, Guidi called for two closed sessions, hoping the news cameras would leave. The cameras stayed and at about 11:00PM, Guidi emerged from the back room and announced that he really wanted to keep restaurant grading - he claimed his earlier position was designed only to spark public SUPPORT for restaurant grades.
Gee, doesn't this sound familiar?
Larry Guidi doesn't want you to see the Dean Martin impersonator. He doesn't want you to hear him thank convicted felon ex-council member Louis Velez at 50:00 minutes into the DVD of the speech. He doesn't want you to hear him say that that "He (God) chose me to be the mayor" at 46:24, and he sure as heck doesn't want you to see how many Hawthorne City employees attended this event as the camera pans across the crowd at 48:00.
Don't worry, everybody will soon get to see the video that Guidi wanted to bury. On YouTube.

How this guy keeps getting reelected in beyond me. Then again, Hermosa did the same thing with Sam Edgerton.

Look up Hawthorne on Youtube and on Guidiwatch. It will give you ample laughs as you watch the antics of Mayor Guido and the council members as they display their foolish ways. Face it, the city of Hawthorne has seen better days and most of the good people have long moved away from that area years ago. A few faithful like Norb Huber and Big Al would be much better guest speakers for the chamber of commerce. They are faithful citizens and have done much good for Hawthorne.

Wait until you see clips of the speech.
(Rumor has it Guidi was desperately trying to collect previously burned DVD copies of his speech and trying to prevent new copies from being made and distributed.)

Careful, Fred!
Didn't one of Guidi's relatives (Dragone) run for office in El Segundo's last election?

If Guidi could he would rename Hawthorne Guidiville. He did get away with naming a skatepark after himself.
The guys that prop this guy up behind the scenes(Gold's Gym, Developers, etc.)have got to be squirming at his continued arrogance. Pride before the fall. Stay tuned.

"I think the draw is me. And I have the ability to fill the room to discuss what happens in the city," Guidi said at the City Council meeting.
More Guidi double talk. During the State of the City, he said it (the event) was about "you" (the citizens, staff, businesspeople, etc.).
Guidi's ego is so big, it's a wonder the earth's orbit isn't lop-sided.

Good! What a pathetically egomaniacal jerk! Who needs him and his stupid sideshows? Now, if we can only get him to leave the council and, uh, the city!

I don't think Mayor Guidi will be giving his State of the City speech next year as the DA's office is closely reviewing his campaign disclosure statements for "Bundling" of campaign donations and I suspect he will be indicted before next Feb. 14 comes around and may actually be serving time in state prison. On another note, what idiot politician schedules his State of the City address on Valentines Day EVERY YEAR.?

Doesn't this explain why the Chamber of Commerce bows at Guidi's feet? For God's sake, wasn't he introduced as "my mayor, my American idol"?
Guidi "lets" the Chamber put on its biggest fund raiser (State of the City)instead of having the city do it. Instead of covering its own costs and making extra for charity, Hawthorne spends money and lets the Chamber profit.
Guidi gets the undying support of the Chamber at what cost to the taxpayers? Don't forget to add the hourly cost of all those city employees at the luncheon to Jag's figures in his memoranda.
Oops. They thought nobody would notice.

He probably prepares for the Valentine's Day speech the night before the same way Spitzer spent his night before Valentine's Day is my guess though.

Wasn't he, and his family involved with that towing company? You know, the one that was selling them $5000.00 cars for a couple of hundred bucks? And then misrepresenting the sales price to the DMV? How come he's never been investigated for that?
