As a 20 year resident of Hawthorne, I can tell you that the MAJORITY of our community are law-abiding, decent and hardworking folks. There is always going to be some idiots who don't respect the law or the people in the community. Thank goodness these idiots are few and far between.
True! But the numbers seems to be growing exponentially.

It wasn't a homicide! It was a population control!

Hawthorne is a diamond in the rough. Mayor Guido is at the helm. All is well in the gardens.
I'm finding it not to be a "Diamond in the "Rough" It's more like a "Blood Diamond" without the value!

Well Said.
I too have to agree, sooooo.....this means that the greedy bastards that took money to allow developers to put in those apartment buildings, should have to go live in one for 30 days.....come on people....the city council had to have known that this would happen! Bad government and bad citizens for not fighting back sooner....I don't even like driving through this area anymore.........and don't forget Inglewood Avenue.....120th through 140th....sorry, but it's the truth

Some of the corrupt council in the late 70-s and early 80-s bought up oversized lots in the area (sometime thru straw buyers) and then voted to change the neighborhood zoning from single homes to multi unit apartments. When these were slow to rent, they went to HUD for the choicest of all renters and there went the neighborhood! Gangsters moved in their grand mama's apartments and pushed her out, took over the complexes, and ran rampant. HPD worked hard to drive large groups of scum that were squatting in the places selling drugs (Can't live in HUD, get govt' money and be a criminal) and now it seems a little quieter. These council members prostituted the east side and center of Hawthorne but maintained a clean, safe zone for their homes in Holly Glenn. A few of the crooks still live there, others collected their blood money and moved out of the area. Right Guy? You gotta be proud of yourself! Short timer King Guidi is just the last remnant of an old, corrupt not so secret society. Be a doll and turn the lights out when you leave, Larry!

I have lived in hawthorne since 1985.My 3 kids graduated from hhs. This area is tough but after growing up In compton this is nothing. I have seen some tough deeds. My brother was involved with gangs and fought tookie. His 16 year old son was shoot in the head as the gangs were shooting at a girl. when he was living on greenleaf in compton a gang member shot and killed a neighbor in his front yard. This is the lost generation and most kids think that school is not necessary and they will all be rappers.People there are no short cuts to success.Hawthorne can clean up its act if It was more concerned about crime than seeing how many cars can they take and sale on the license check.

Hawthorne is the kind of city that once you move in, it's hard to get out. No matter how many times I've moved away I still end up back in Hawthorne. Its like the city put crazy glue on the pavements. I do have to agree that there are TOOO MANY apartments. And they all look ugly as hell. The streets smell like dirt and old school milk. People got a bad attitude. Little 13 year old boys tryna be gangstas and talk back like they know what life is all about. The biggest hott mess is the 99 cents store closest to Hawthorne Blvd/Imperial HWY. Yuck. Trash everywhere. Cops get too gun happy. Almost got shot by them in my own car! Lord let me win the lottery and kiss this poor excuse of a city and its killers goodbye. Georgia on my mind... LOL!!!

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
