Hawthorne is really bad, but the area between El Segundo, Rosecrans, Prairie and Crenshaw is just a DUMP!

Hawthorne is a reflection of the rest of the world, It's the people living in it that's getting worst and corrupted policies. But as you see, this beautiful place is crumbling all around us each day.

Hawthorne is a diamond in the rough. Mayor Guido is at the helm. All is well in the gardens.

But as you see, this beautiful place is crumbling all around us each day. You obviously do not live anywhere near this area! And did you mean "policies", like guidelines set forth on how to deal with something, or are you totally dumb and you were trying to multiply the word police? This is not an unusual incident for "The Thorne!" As someone who knows the area very well, this is definitely no longer the city where the Beach Boys grew up! The area where this occurred is horrible, inhabited by gangs and drugs. Its unfortunate, but the people who live in that community have a long standing history of not cooperating with police and helping to keep their community nice. You get what you give. They don't give, so they have a horrible and scary community to live in! There are some very nice parts of Hawthorne, but this sin't gone of them.

As a 20 year resident of Hawthorne, I can tell you that the MAJORITY of our community are law-abiding, decent and hardworking folks. There is always going to be some idiots who don't respect the law or the people in the community. Thank goodness these idiots are few and far between.

That part of Hawthorne is a perfect example of a long ago city council that couldn't say no to developers that wanted to build block after block of cheap apartment buildings.

Poor Hawthorne Leaders
Chico, CA
|
This crime-ridden city and urban ghetto has been plagued by bad leadership on the city council and it is evident by the numerous apartments inhabited by section 8 welfare recipients. Hawthorne used to be a decent place, but no more. The city is plagued by congestion, traffic, gangs, noise, crime, poor schools, a dead mall bunker, and general decay. The city leadership did the people of Hawthorne no favors, but ruined the city.

The majority of Hawthorne people are good. 51 percent? That means 49 are bad. That's not good and if I lived in Hawthorne 20 years I think I'd be looking to get out of there.

If it weren't for Hollyglen, the annual per capita income in Hawthorne would be $10.50 and a WIC card.

I live in the vicinty. Had no idea it was this bad when I came here. Unfortunately, income dictates where you live. Now I can't get out. I saw the aftermath of this incident and I seemed to be the only one truly affected. I saw a child die, I knew a mother lost her son before she did! All the other on-lookers had a very matter-of-fact, milling around attitude. This is so scary! Everyone here is at-risk and I work very hard, am educated and law abiding. To be this close is frightening.
