Why do these elected people waste taxpayers money by giving it to these crooks. Let the system run its course and get a conviction. These guys must have been paying off Guidi to cave in like this. And what did he do to justify that salary?

Ya, Heffner quit on his own but pretty fast from what I hear. So what gives him the right to come back and squeeze more money from the taxpayers via the city council.

$17,000 can go a long way in the CLASSROOMS of the Hawthorne School District. Taking $ away from kids is what the School Board just AUTHORIZED !

so our beloved mayor robs the schools of $17,000.

I suppose now he can buy some Ragu and Mozzerela for his pizzas. By way of stealing from the children.

Maybe now he can invite all the kids to his house for pizza & pasta! I'm sure code enforcement will allow him to shut down the street for a big party!

Ya, Lisa Miller and her ghestapo will turn a blind eye to Guidi's municipal violations. But they have shown they will do his bidding by harrassing people for him and enforcing petite violations.

Does anyone have a copy of the settlement? I'm sure someone out there has it. If so, please post. From what it sounds like, only two months salary is nothing compared to what getting rid of a public employee can potentially cost in legal fees. Similarly, it is nothing like what was paid to Heffner and Jag. Guidi is gone from the school district and I'm sure the district is happy with that. Bargain in my opinion for only $17k.

Even if the mixer is only worth $400.00. It is never a bargain to pay-off a crook!!! That's the problem with school districts and government for that matter. Everyone thinks it's better to settle for cash than fight the wrong doers. As a result, stealing, lying and corruption runs rampant! It's ruining the America that our parents worked so hard to create. Sad..........

Wow, why is it every time some crook is about to get their's it appears they get paid even more??? This is a bunch of bull S***! He's admitted to stealing from the Hawthorne School District. He just needs to be fired and go forward with his FELONY criminal complaint, not be rewarded by getting $17K. WTF??? And they say crime doesn't pay. It sure does in Hawthorne.
Well, at least the School Board had a bit of nads, minus the brains for giving him a HUGE payout, and decided to give him the boot. Can't wait to see what his cash payout will be if the Hawthorne City Council finally stands up and does the same. We need people with both NADS and BRAINS to run things. Take a clue from this Council and do what's right. Fire that Bast*** and send himm packing with nothing!

I wonder when Danny Juarez's employer is going to wake up and realize how much time he spends talking city business on his cell phone while getting paid by NG to work on government contracts.

Definitely see your point. But you have to really think about it. Is it worth for the school district to fight this guy tooth and nail and spend much more than $17k to get him fired? Remember he is a public employee and public employees have a bunch of bs rights protecting them from just being fired - they can keep coming back and appealing and appealing which will continue to cost the district thousands of dollars. This thing could have gone on forever and the district could have continued to have him on paid leave etc. etc. Instead, cord was cut, guidi is gone, and district achieved its objective. Good Riddance.

There's the criminal case, that's where the real fight is. I wonder if you'll be as critical if the District Attorney drops the ball and does nothing on that prosecution. Oops, i just remembered, there were ALREADY two previous grand jury investigations where the DA didn't do anything to Guidi. Are you going to be as critical about that injustice especially when the DA is supposed to have teeth??? Would you dare tell the DA how they let a crook get away two times??

Well said 'thug'. Its the job of DA to prosecute this guy not the district. The district needs to worry about its schools not about some low-life thief. It pretty obvious now that Guidi is a thief. I mean, the guy resigned because he knew he knew he stole that mixer. Thats what someone does when they are guilty. They don't try to fight it.

Yes, that it is why the School District DID NOT decide to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in potential litigation.$17,000 is less than the legal fees that the district might have spent if they chose litigation.

The legal system allows criminals to get away with murder.

"Dear members,

On Wednesday, July 14, 2010, I attended the special meeting of the Hawthorne School District Board at their headquarters at 14120 S. Hawthorne Blvd. at 5:00 PM.
Discussion alluded to an issue with an employee, namely Larry Guidi. The board
excused themselves and went into closed session. After approximately 35 minutes
the board returned and re-opened the public meeting and rendered a vote of
(5 - 0) to accept Larry Guidi's resignation and a vote of (5 - 0) to provide him with a severance package. The value of the package was not made public.

The meeting proceeded with a training session on the "Brown Act".

I excused myself from the meeting and departed.

Since the L.A. County District Attorney filed 2 felony counts against Mr. Guidi for theft of a mixer, why didn't the school board fire him? H-m-m-m-m

Allen Richards, President
Ramona Neighborhood Association"

I didn't know Neighborhood Association presidents were supposed to use their positions for politics. As a member of the association, I can't believe you are trying to defend a criminal. I want Allen Richards gone now!

I can't wait until Guidi tries to find another job. Google "Larry Guidi" like any potential employer and his entire history of suspicious and idiotic conduct pops up #1 or #2.

Allen Richards is Guidi's biggest suck-up lap dog. He believes Guidi walks on water. The poor SOB has so much kissing up invested in Guidi, he evidently can't believe his hero is capable of a felony even though its on video.

According to the article, Guidi got a one time payment of two months' salary and he quit. That's a good deal because the district had him on paid leave.

His arraignment comes up on August 12th. That's one more month of paid leave. A trial will take more than 30 days. That's $17 right there.

Wake up Al. If Guidi was not guilty, he would not have resigned and fought to keep his job. Which should be easy if the jury finds him not guilty.

The question is not why the district paid Guidi, it's why an innocent man quit.

Innocent men do not resign, Al. Say goodbye to your buddy because 20 year old Hobart commercial mixers sell for $1,995. Go ahead and Google "used Hobart mixers" and find out for yourself.

What do you think is going to happen when the investigations underway at city hall are done? I hear Jag has retained council.

What else does Louis Velez know about Larry? Those two were joined at the hip for years. After Velez plead guilty to a felony and moved to Riverside County, what do you think he and Mrs. Velez talk about on their 4 hour round trip commute to their Hawthorne School District jobs everyday?

I'm sure Larry Guidi NEVER comes up when they're stuck in traffic on Mondays. Or Tuesdays. Or Wednesdays. Or Thursdays. Or Fridays.

Why did an innocent man resign, Al? Guidi was under qualified and overpaid at the school district. The sot has a high school diploma for crying out loud.

I've waited a very long time for Larry Guidi to self destruct and I am enjoying every second of his idiotic soap opera.

No more Team Guidi on the city council. Jim Mitsch, who Guidi kicked out rid of as city manager back as city manager. No power on the council. Investigations at city hall.

I'm making pop corn.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
