Wal-mart, the largest U.S. private employer, has sent a letter to Washington saying that they back Obama's universal healthcare. Think for a moment of the significance of this! Many Wal-mart employees are not full-time and are not provided benefits. Now all Wal-mart employees will be supporting Obama's healthcare because they think they will now have better healthcare. Our country is being run by a group of people that use trickery, underhanded techniques or any other method to meet their agenda.

Don't think for a moment that Mr. Wal-mart arrived at work one day and decided to write a letter to Washington supporting Obama's health care plan. Who met with who behind closed doors and what were they promised? That is even more troubling than Wal-mart supporting Obamacare.

the Republican must known that Walmart would be the largest contributor to non insured employees and what a relief to them it would be. But at least the employees would have health insurance from someone. Wonder what goverment insurance Republican has and if he is employed by an elected official or an insurance company. Probably so.

Republican, the walmart managers I hear even instruct their under paid ,noninsured emplyees on how to get the federal benefits such as food stamds, gov. insurance such as medicade, and other goverment benefits. Their employees can not even put food on the table with such low wages. There is one Walmart employee who works in dallas that has to have 3 part time jobs to survive to make a living. And she is not a young person. You can even find people there in their 70s that has to have a job just to exist. I am for goverment health insurance but the companies such as walmart should have have insurance for their employees. If Sams kids are billionaires why can they not have this type insurance for those employees. Tight Wads I guess.

I understand that the state of Texas gave Walmart a grant to build a ware house in Beaumont Tx. I think it was to ware house all of those chinese imports in. Could be wrong, but I believe I am right. It was suppose to cost big millions of Texas Tax Dollars $$$$$$$

Republican, they sure have hard punishment in Choctaw county. Appears that a jailer there like to serve up justice with an ax handle. At least he will be seeing justice on the other side of the bars, he was convicted of several charges agaist a truck driver and 2 jail inmates. He is going to be serving some long sentences in a federal pen. Lady justice must have been watching this time.

At least for now, this is still a free country. Employers are not required by law to provide health insurance for their employees. I have been told that Wal-mart does provide insurance for their full-time employees but not part-time employees. I don't know how true that is. If an employee is not satisfied with their work or pay at Wal-mart, they have the choice of quitting and going somewhere that offers what they are looking for. That is what makes this country a great place to live.

Many cities in Texas voted to establish a local tax to be used to bring in new industry. I wonder if this is where the grant came from. The cities consider it to be a good thing by increasing their tax base and bringing in businesses that hire more employees. It probably is a good thing if operated correctly.

Republican, the companies are suppose to operate on the capitalist idea of doing business. Instead it is no better than the welfare that you have spoken of where you do not want to pay for insurance for someone else. What is the difference. Alot of times the company brings in its own employees from another plant. That is what happened in hugo OK. wit hte glove factory and when their welfare ran out they left and later went to Mexicop-Wellls-Lamont glove factory. Some other plants left up nort , G.M. for one. To relocate where they got a better deal. And they then leave that city holding the bag and an empty blding. WalMart has also done the same thing to cities where it got tax breaks. When the tax break ran out, they ran out. It has happened time and time agin. It was a state program as I understand it. for that ware house for Wal Mart.

Republican If we are suppose to live and work in a capitalist society, as a lot of people like to talk about. Then the capitalist corporations should pay for their own business dealings. Just as the Republicans keep saying about not paying for someone elses health insurance. works both ways. The city of arlington built a 1 billion $$$$ stadium for the COWBOYS. It only made the owner, Jones, a richer man. and created afew low paying vendor jobs. Part time at that.

Yes, I have observed that happening. I place the blame for that happening on the shoulders of the manager of the funds. The manager is paid well and should have the capability of selecting reputable companies and companies that will stay. That has not been the case in my own city.

In my opinion we are no long a true capitalist society but it is next to impossible to revert back things that the government has done. That is why it is important to hold on to any capitalistic ideas that we currently have.

Have You heard the latest on Vitter, the guy who ran for congress on Family Values, and was caught with his name in the D.C. Madames phone Book list of paying customers, and was also a visitor to a couple more houses of protitution in louisiana. Well now there is someone that is attempting to file charges against him for committing illegal acts and maybe have his law liscense taken away from him. Seen it on the news to night. After all it happened to the N.y. ATTORNEY GENERAL DID IT NOT, AT EAST THAT IS WHAT i THINK THE GUY WAS IN n.y. Vitters did commit a crime. Wonder why the Republicans did not complain about his lack of morals as the did others, Clinton included. It looks like this may be anteresting time in politics. VITTERS, the family matters guy is running for Senator and using his family as a picture for advertising I guess for 'FAMILY MATTERS". I wonder why the house did not file unethical conduct of a congressman against him or investigate --nothing was done.

My opinion is: I don't condone actions such as this and regret that such people are representing and making decisions for us. However, I view that as a personal choice and believe that he alone will pay the price for his actions. I only look at how he represents his constituents. I expect him to do his job in a fair and honest way. I will leave the judgment for his personal actions up to God.

Republican, But if a person will not be honest and live up to his marriage contract, which I think a married couple have betwen them when they accept and say those vows of marriage to each other. then caan you really expect that person to be completely honest in his contract with his constituents that has elected him, or be honest to them in his representation of his district.

Republican, I have come upon a bit of interesting info about Enron, our most favored Corp. Enron had set up,before its bankruptcy, 2832 subsidiaries, with almost a third of thenm located in the Caymen Islands and other tax haven countries. Now I wonder where all that loot went to plus the revenue on those savings in lost taxes. During the Clinton Admin., Clinton was making an effort for a multilateral crackdown on tax havens and the Bush Administration when it took office said it was abandoning this effort, "that the administration will not "interfere with the internal tax policy of sovereign nations." Now this was the foreign Policy of the Bush Admin. when he took office. So he supported the tax dodging Corporations that avoided paying taxes by the use of off shore subsidiaries.
