My husband accepted a transfer today to Tyler. We had been considering this move for a while as we aren't happy w/ the HS our daughter would be attending next year in the suburbs of Dallas. I did some research and Lindale seems to be the best school system in the area. We also like the Hideaway Lake area. Any comments?

Bullard is considered to have the best schools in the Tyler area. That is one reason why it is the fastest growing area around Tyler the last 6-8 years. Lindale has had problems with their school administration within the last year or so. If moving to Bullard (10-12 mins. S of Tyler) there are numerous housing additions and new businesses going up at this time. I know a couple who has 2 children in Lindale schools and they say the schools aren't awful but are no where near what they used to be. Of course, do your own research as you have been to find out what is best for your family. Good luck.

may I suggest the 7th grade teachers of lindale jr high go to church......refrain from saying lard_ss in class, stop making fun of childrens clothes in front of the whole class. so far 6 children have given statement documenting their treatment of these teachers during this school year. ever heard of the movie erin brocovich? takes months and tons of money for lawyers, but when all is said and done and there is plenty of money to pay the lawyers......the ugly putrid scum bubbles to the surface. when it does, every citizen of lindale will know all the details. they have literally taken a child (several) and brow beat them, crushed their self esteem and spirit.
imagine being 13, 7th grade and dry heaving before school because "all the teachers hate me"

I haved lived in Lindale for two years and my mother has lived in Hideaway for 5. We recently moved to Hideaway. My daughter will be going into second grade next year. My mother retired from teaching at Lindale. Yes, the school has had some problems in the past, but I have been more than happy with the education my daughter is receiving so far. Lindale is a wonderful, family-oriented town. I love the location because you can so easily hop on I 20. I am also from the Dallas area and its very easy for me to go back to Dallas to visit family and friends, shop, eat at Mi Cocina's, and my son's cardiologist is there as well. Hideaway is a great community. I feel very safe here. My husband is gone for weeks at a time and I love the sense of security I get here. The pool and lakes are great for the kids. My kiddos are going to Hideaway VBS this week and are loving it.

Can't this backwoods town build some curbs, landscaping......hello, maybe a sidewalk or two. They have the money, oh then again that money was spent in Vegas a couple of years ago. School money I might add. Maybe some of that could have been used to repair the damaged caused by the hail storm in 07. HELLO, if proper attention would have been paid to maintaining the buildings then the extensive damages wouldn't have been so EXTENSIVE!!! Can you say stop sign ?? There are plenty of those that need to be place also. What a bunch of church building morons whose town is falling down around them and looks like a slum and can't even make simple improvements like stop signs and curbs. But hey, they do have 42 churches and a nice football stadium (at least the outside looks nice) the inside looks old and worn out like the rest of the town....bunch of back woods gossiping good ole boys with no lives.
You have 42 churches, ask God to help with getting some brains together. Your behind the rest of the world and drool and say "DUH"if outsiders come and inform you it's 2009 !!!

Think twice before moving to Hideaway. The Homeownders Association is being sued for giving assets to the Hideaway Church. A large group of church members ran for the Board of Directors and have caused years of problems. A small percentage of Hideaway residents attend the Church. It is a major mess and will most likely result in Hideaway Lakes going bankrupt.

I love the Mineola & Lake Fork Area ! Mineola is a very quaint town, very friendly people. Live in town or in the country. Lindale taxes are too high, and property values high !

I moved from so cal 2 years ago to Hideaway! The school system in Lindale far exceeds the public school system in California. Two of my children excell, one has special ed! All have done wonderfully. Give it some more consideration it can be the move of a lifetime.

I have traveled all over this country, and the people in Lindale have a very nice community when compared to most others. Especially if you drive east on I-20 for a 30 minutes. Self hating people tend to lash out at the religous, conservative, or individualistic residents of the community, but all they're are guilty of is living their life the way they see fit. If you hate the community so much, no one is asking you to live there. Sure, I get frustrated with the Bubba System from time to time, but I've found out through experience that each community has its version of the Bubba System. Worry about your problems and I'll worry about mine.

Lindale is a very nice place to live. Especially for retired outdoor loving people. Lakes, Golf, and close to a 100,000 population city with great health care facilities.
