I am a home owner in this area and many of us are working hard to help clean up this section of Aberdeen. It is a frustrating situation. The area around the boys and girls club is a major hang out for many black youths from many surrounding neighborhoods. In the warmer months I must have to call the police at least once a week for various problems these young people cause in and around my home and neighborhood. On one hand I am trying to help keep this area free of crime and on the other hand I feel like selling out and moving to an area not known as a 'hot spot'. I will say that the police as well as the city council support home owners such as myself and our desire to clean up this side of town. Maybe the Aberdeen police are just trying to keep our city from becoming another Edgewood.

If you want them to move without starting a war,just get on friendly terms with them,and they will respect your property and space.It's worth a try,and I guarantee it will work out better than the cab driver who got shot in the head in Edgewood

I know the officer in question (JR Adkins) and I am an African American. He is a great friend and has been nothing but help to me and my husband. He let's me know when he sees my kids with kids he knows I wouldn't approve of. He's helped my daughter when her ex-boyfriend began stalking her and started destroying our property. We need him in Aberdeen. He knows who's who in Aberdeen and these criminals target him, because while he's on the job they can't get away with ANYTHING!!! Whenever JR is involved in an arrest, family members and friends of the suspect threaten him and cause almost riot conditions. Then they claim police brutality...BOGUS!!!

Thank you Hillsdalerez! We do need JR in Aberdeen. He does know who is who and what is going on in our city. When an officer makes a request of a citizen, out of respect for their authority, we should immediately respond. Whether it be to pull over on the road, lie on the ground with hands up or move along and not loiter. We are not privy to what the officer may be involved in at that moment. An officer may be making a request of someone for their own safety. It is not our duty as citizens to talk back, give our opinion or ignore an officer of the law. Color doesn't matter in situations like these... it is all about respect for the man in the uniform. Many of our young people have lost respect for people in authority. Yes, this is the land of the free... but it doesn't mean we are free to question and disrespect the law and the men who put their lives on the line for us each and every day!

has anyone checked the judiciary search page and looked up the person in question, the reason i ask is that i think that if i was a police officer and the person who has had 35 prior run ins with the law enforcement community i think i would stop and check him out too.

I have reside in Aberdeen all my life and I know JR personally and I can say that the african american community has been harrashed by him as well as other officers. Even offers can vouch for that. I wish people would stop making it like all african american people are bad and cause problems and drama. I'm a 29 year old female single mother I've owned my home since the age of 21 I put my own self through college and have a great job and also have seen the violence that the city of Aberdeen has caused. So until you are a victim then speack on only what you know to be facts.

Lol, Aberdeen already is another Edgewood. I've lived here my whole life and it has changed drastically. I know a lot of people that hang by the club, including myself. Maybe, just maybe city council needs to stop spending so much time wondering what all the black kids are doing and build more places for children in general to hang out. There are three places to go after school, not including my house. Library, B&G club, or McDonalds. Come on, now. Nobody is staying in the house on a good day.
