This is terrible. As an old friend of Katie's I am crushed. My heart goes out to everyone who has been lucky enough to have her as a part of their life.

Driver killed in car crash in NY suburb
Full story: The Associated Press
A teenager has been killed when her car apparently lost control on a Long Island Expressway service road in Hauppauge. The road was closed for several hours after Thursday morning's accident. Suffolk County police say 18-year-old Kaitlyn Viola's car crossed over three lanes of traffic and struck another car. ViolaA's car then went off the road and crashed into a tree. The Medford resident was taken by helicopter to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the other car was uninjured.

the worst part of all of this i talked to her about 5 minutes before the accident. she was truly an amazing person and anyone who ever met katie knew how lucky they were to have such a special person touch their lives. she is greatly missed already and of course my heart goes out to her family.

we may not have been friends, i only knew you threw someone, but this is impacted me so much. this is such a sad story and no young girl disereved this, you were young and beautiful.

Katie was an amazing person and she was the last person to deserve this. My past actions have cause me much regret because they have caused me to leave and us to grow apart a few years ago. Maybe if I made better choices in my life things would be different, but when I finally came home things already changed, and I havent seen you since. I'm sorry for ever leaving and I will miss you. To most this post will not make sense, but to me, it does. Cherish those you have. Rest In Peace.

as a family member of katie she rele was a great person... she knows how many people loved her and she loved everyone the same... dont let this ruin your life just be careful driving... unfortunately we leared that the hard way in my family<3333

Katie may you rest in peace. She was a beautiful, funny girl who I had the pleasure of getting to know when my son dated her last year. We enjoyed a few car rides to the football games and I can tell you she lit up a room with her presence. May her family find some peace in knowing how much Katie was loved by many and that she touched so many lives. My heart is breaking over the pain her family must be feeling. May you find strength in one another and find peace with your beautiful memories of an amazing young woman. Rest in peace sweet Katie...you will be missed.

she was a wonderful person nd all those memories i have had with her were really funny but she was just a really sweet girl nd really pretty nd i was not accpecting for this is to happened i was shocked i fell on the floor when i herd this i just coulndt stop thinking of her cause she just was a wonderful person nd i wish she can still be here smiling and laughing but i guess it is gods turn to have a chance to get to no her forever in my heart RIP Katie
