I think these kids should be charged so at this young age they will learn that you have to be accountable for doing wrong. We live about 15 miles from Palatka and none of my family will go anywhere alone. This world is such an evil place, it's scary.

They must have attacked someone elderly. This is so messed up on so many levels. After they take him out of juve that should allow the woman to whom he took the purse from to beat the tar out of him.

You will be hearing from this thug kid again.

This is the "thug" mentality of our youth. Stop them now. Both boys, the ten year old probable encouraged the eight year old, need strong parental interaction, father/male involvement, encouragement to excel in school and a religious faith. These brothers need help now. Yes. Hold them accountable for this wrong doing.

yep its against the law i think to leave a kid that young in the car...funny though i did alot of car time when i was a kid..if you couldnt behave yourself or if parents had "adult" business to attend to you sat in the car while your brothers teased you and pummeled you to death.

Hey Pete, maybe you are reading too much into this. Maybe you should take some reading and writing courses to brush up on your spelling. Where in the article did it mention there was no parental interaction or father involvement. The article I read indicated the "parents" left the kids in the car. I agree they need to be punished, but don't punish the parents by making those kinds of statements,
And to call the kids "thugs"......You all need tol stop. I will leave it that and you read between the lines/

Uhmmm I agree with you on the parent issue BUT how is he wrong over the thug mentality, it states the kids did this from something they had SEEN..........ok what film etc that is that age based shows kids robbing an elder person and it being OK.......... personally feel that they really should be taking to task [the children] and SHOWN this is not acceptable....its like a kid that age watching chucky and then using it as a defense as to why they gouged out another kids eyes and rammed stuff up his rectum leaving him to die on train tracks [jamie bulger if you are unsure as which case I am reffering to] IF they are allowed to get off more or less scott free THIS will happen again and probably with a much worse outcome for the person they attack.

Oh, it's legitimate to label a pursesnatcher a thug, the age of a criminal doesn't mitigate the fact. The other kid is guilty of conspiracy by my bet. If either one of them acted like they had a gun, they should have been shot dead on the spot. Crime is nothing to play around with. If this kid doesn't learn his lesson now, he is looking at one of two things: a grave or long hard time. If he is coddled and excused, it will be interpretted as condoning the act and the only sorry will be that he got caught. Blisters on his butt is the least that he should get.

The person they robbed was not elderly. I don't know where you got that idea. The victim appeared to be about 30. There is no excuse for this type of behavior I don't care what age the victim. If they get away with this and are not held responsible it will be something worse the next time. This is also another example of why kids and unmonitored TV viewing is bad.

I only asked because I can't imagine having my purse taken by a 8 year old.

You are exactly right. If they get away with this, we will know all about the parents in a few years when they are in the news saying what a good boy little johnny was and why did the bad cops have to shoot him.

If I would have done that as a child, my father would have made sure I was prosecuted, The worst part is I would have went to jail, and not been able to sit down for my whole time there. Then when I got out He would have given me a hug, then whipped my a** again for good behavior. Where have all the good parents gone.

I think the excuse I saw it in the movies is just an excuse that people like to blame everything on. A eight years old knows right from wrong. Yes this child & his brother should be charged for the crime and if not the sytem has failed them, because it would encourage them to commit more crimes since they are young it is alright.

The victim had a baby with her. The baby dropped a pacifier. When she reached for the pacifier she felt a tug on her purse. She thought is was the baby until the purse was snatched. She said she saw the 8 year old when she got out of the car and I think she said she spoke to him.

No one in our society--child or adult--admits their responsibility for negative behavior anymore. Our permissive society refuses to hold people responsible for their negative behavior. That is why we have so much crime and other social ills. When I was a child and went to school my parents told me if I did not behave I would be in worse trouble when I got home...so guess what?...I knew what that meant and I behaved. Now, if a "Little Johnny" gets in trouble in school Mom and Dad want to blame other children or the school personnel not their little precious. All that does is teach "Little Johnny" that he does not have to be responsible for his behavior.

When I was growing up (50's and 60's) we did not have the violent crime and huge drug problem we have now. You did not have graphic violence and sex dumped in your living room by the TV, PC, and Videos--most of which happens now without parental supervision. Back then half of the babies born were not illegitimate like they are now. Half the marriages did not end in divorce. You did not have people expecting government to be mother, father, and financial provider for them and their families. The majority of people back then were forced by society to be responsible for their behavior and/or suffer the consequences. Has our politically correct, "do it if it feels good," permissive society really helped us???? If you say "NO" it has not helped then YOU have to be active to make changes. We all need to be proactive not reactive.

So most of you believe in spanking a ten yr old who steals $20's from your wallet? Is there another less violent punishment we can use or do we have to use physical pain. I really want to know.
