Has everyone missed this part? According to this story, store security is watching in the dressing rooms too. Hmm... And if store security was NOT watching in the dressing rooms, then that means that at one point security lost sight of what was happening - a big No-No for security. The rules are if security does not see the incident in its entirety, from start to finish, then security may not make the apprehension. Even a few moments loss of visual contact prohibits making the 'grab'.
So, Macy's shoppers - either you're being watched in the dressing rooms, where you would (naturally) assume you have privacy, or overzealous security is jumping to conclusions and making half informed grabs. Either way shoppers, it could spell bad news! Or a nice lawsuit against Macy's. Hey, security got lucky this time. There are people out there that exploit this rule, loss of visual contact, and can use it to cause the store a lot of trouble by pretending a crime and making a major fuss when they are later detained, with no stolen merchandise at all.
I know one store I won't be trying clothes on in!!!
you've never taken law, have you ?

You can't even pretend to be commiting a crime, becuase you'll get charge conspiracy to commit a Larceny. The Law covers all the angles, except for the big wigs in WALL STRET that is!!!!

If you are as smart as you think you are, you would see that there are signs in every store every fitting room that states that they are monitered by same gender security personel. Why do you need privacy while in a public place? They would only be watching you if you act suspicious...

You can send a female LP into the dressing room to observe, check the stall for the merchandise and evidence of sensors, tags ect. If the person leaves with a bag and no merchandise I am making the stop, done it before and never lost in court. You are always watched, remember that.
To bad, you are not getting away. Don't be stupid either, no retailer has cameras in the dressing room, not only is it illegal it would be a huge lawsuit and criminal charges. The best way to catch someone is from observing on the floor, not on the camera.
This was a case of an organized gang being caught who rob retailers daily costing the average citizens in higher prices.

I love dumb shoplifters they give me job security!!! But they need to stop being stupid, most of the shoplifters steal out of greed not out of neccessity. I just want to drop kick the fat tricks in the teeth. I am racist against theives no matter what color, shape, background, religion, or gender. they can all kiss my ars. I just want to thank them all, I hope there shoplifting experience was great at Macy's. Im gunna get you sucka!!!

Its sad to see that ANYONE would try to defend the actions of these thiefs. They go into a store and steal and people want to accuse security? Security was probably watching them because THEY WERE STEALING. Whatever happened after that is all their fault. A drop kick in the teeth or a flying elbow to the ovaries is what they deserve! Well, maybe that is a little extreme. A couple of months in jail will teach them the lesson. Didnt it say one was extradited to Hartford for a warrant? I hope they go steal your car, your checkbook and your identity. Then you can feel bad for them because of their race.
