Motorcyclist Critically Injured

Hope the cyclist was at least wearing a helmut.

What do you expect from a bike with a top speed of 182mph?
I saw people on these "crotch rockets" zooming between lanes all weekend without a cop in sight. And I'm not talking about back roads...I'm talking about I-91 going through downtown Hartford.
This will only get worse as gas prices continue to increase and more youths can only afford to drive cycles.

I was in the car behind the Mercedes that Pedro hit. We had front row seats to the entire accident and believe me, if he did not have on a helmet - He would not be alive. It is in fact a miracle that he lived. I saw him hit the car and instantly his bike exploded right in front of us some spray and debris hit our car, the next thing I know I saw him under a car in the next lane he tumbled a few times and thank god we were able to avoid running him over. It was the most horrifying and foolish thing I have ever witnessed. I will spare the further details. He was doing to our guess about 150mph
and just as Dan said he was weaving through traffic. By some miracle another biker was in the lead and made the same lane changes that Pedro did. We thought he was going to be the one to get it. Warning to bikers: The car he hit was black, crossing form the far left - he never saw it coming. Going that fast, we couldn't hear them until they were right on top of us!, NEVER travel faster than your sound!, and
a t-shirt offers NO PROTECTION! It is not worth it - go to six flags if you want to feel like your flying. My prayers are with you Pedro Montalvo God is with you and he has re-gifted you your life.

Having been there, I was upset at what my children had seen, my boys, 11 and seven were in the car with me. I did also feel for the people they hit. I don't even think they saw it coming. Living with knowing he died may be a problem for that man and his child later on and it was not his fault at all. It happened so fast, he may never have seen him coming. What he did was play roulette with his life but from my view the gun was fully loaded.

You know it's really pathetic that he has passed away and there are idiots like "Hartford Whalers" making these comments. The devil sheds not tears, so I really don't think his family or his friends care for you either. He was young with a family, everyone deserves a second chance. How do you think his family will feel reading this!!! They do not deserve your cheap, tacky, classless, dumb, ignorant comments. No one is perfect, instead of talking the shyt you did, you should be more sympathetic to his child and wife. U DEVIL!!!!

Wow.....this turned out to be a battle zone as oppose to positive comments. Pedro's family is going through a lot right now. The would haves, could haves, should haves, need to stop. The fact of the matter is he has passed, please people let him rest in peace, let the family have closure already. Everyone has made a mistake in life at one time or the other, unfortunatley he paid with his life. To copy and paste comments for sake of putting your two cents is ridiculous. Telling crystal that her brother should have been going the speed limit is irrelevant right now, can you say anything to at least show an ounce of respect. If you can't than stay out of it!!! I give much respect to Thug Riders, because at least he was able to recognize the families affect by this tragedy. Pedro is not with us today, his family and friends are speaking on his behalf. Have you people nothing better to do than comment of someone's education. Who the hell cares, the point got across!!! This is a forum where people post comments and it's not expected for everyone to like what is being said, but that's what its there for.

Every year around this time I have seen a motorcyclist speeding by doing a wheelie or some other stunt and my biggest fear is that they lose control, hurt themselves, harm me & my two small children, or watch them hit someone else. It frightens me to see cyclists take that kind of risk. I can't understand why it doesn't frighten them.

CPC u need to speak on what you know!!! There is a meaning behind what his sister is saying. Her words might seem foolish to you, but we who know what happened and how it happened, understand what she means. All I am saying is at least give ur condolences, his family had nothing to do with his actions. Now they are suffering by reading all these ridiculous should have comments, from people that do not even know the family. Do they need to be condemned for what happened. Give it a rest... I do not know about u but I am here because I am a close friend of the family. I do not go around minding other people's tragedies, especially if I do not even live in the same state. Of course I send my condolences to the family! No one likes to hear about accidents like this, but I have the right to say that it could have been prevented. This is a forum that readers have the freedom to post their opinions.

Got a message for you: Why don't you go help a veteran in a wheelchair, or visit somebody back from Iraq with TBI. Bring some flowers to a widow.
Problem is, when you turn your life into a grease spot on the highway, the rest of society has to deal with it. I'm sorry that Pedro lost his life. But he chose to go out the way he did, and so he suffered the consequences - including the comment on this message board.
And respect has nothing to do with it. Respect is something you earn, not something you are entitled to t birth.
