Doesn't she know wearing the burqa is to oppress women in their culture? Doesn't she know it is to demean and degrade women? This child is horribly misguided. Doesn't she have anything else to do? Where are her parents?

Wearing a burqa is the active repression of women. It is incompatible with Western Civilization. It is disrespectful to women and should not be allowed in this country. Only a islamist male misogynist, a traitous CAIR lawyer, or a ignorant liberal would condone it's use in Western society.

Any liberal enamored with the burqa and middle eastern treatment of women, I urge you to go walk in the burqa in Afghanistan and experience where the real discrimination lies.

The Muslims have earned the response that Karen received. All of the world's terrorists and religious bigots are Muslims.

From today's horror news: "I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew, Daniel Pearl, in the city of Karachi, Pakistan," Mohammed is quoted as saying...

This story is outrageous -- an Irish/Italian girl having to be "taught" about dicrimination?! Do her parents not have memories of their own? I will have much to say on the bias of this report and the insane behavior of the teachers involved on my own blog. Outlaw Islam, deport Muslims and keep Sharia away from our kids! Remember who you are -- AMERICANS!

That is a distorted point of view. On the other hand, the Burqa is a symbol of the oppression of women by Islamic societies. By the way, the movement towards introducing veils for women in many Islamic countries such as Egypt are not traditional, but rather a development from the Islamic Brotherhood movement of the 1970s and 80s.

I suppose we should be fair and also have a test where students also wear jewish, catholic, and orthodox garb, and report any insults. And then we should also have a double blind study where students wear birkas with bombs beneath and see how many people survive

it IS the school's fault. i was there, many teachers did nothing. that's on them.
any teacher who doesn't react appropriately to racism in the classroom should not be teaching. there are plenty of good teachers at bacon, and those who were involved [in the demonstration, not the racist responses] will surely respect those who deserve it.

While such acts are bad and should not occur...I have three questions? First, why is it that the terrorist funded and terrorist supporting group CAIR is used as a resource to explain Islam? First basic question that they will never answer is ... do you denounce Islamofacist terror? They never provide a "straight answer". Second question, are you people aware of how "non believers" are portrayed within the Muslim world. I will give you a hint... we all should either convert or die. Final question, are you aware that the burqua is not part of the Islamic tradition but yet another manifestation of the muslim male's domination upon his property.(If you don't believe me read the Hadath (spelling)).

I don't see any 'concern' in these comments for those in Islamic countries being senselessly persecuted, abused, and killed, in the name of the 'religion of peace'? Wonder if the 'religion of peace' would be as caring and concerned for you if you were in their country, say in Saudi Arabia, wearing a suit or dress, and a cross?

Could there be any legitimate reasons for people's fears and prejudices in this country? I'm not saying it's good, or right, but perhaps what we see happening daily on the world stage to those not in agreement with the 'religion of peace', might help to explain some this behavior. And perhaps thngs would be better if we'd see even just one or two muslims stand up and admit and condemn these things, perhaps even admit that their 'religion' has some responsibiltiy for all the death, destruction, and prejudice inflicted on countless thousands of unfortunates daily, instead of denying, blaming Israel or 'the Great Satan', and issuing their daily threats of death to all those they don't agree with; then perhaps we'd have a little more compassion and hope.

But I would not advise the rest of the world to hold it's breath for this. The god spoken of in the Quran, is not the same as the God of the Bible. Our best response to Islam is to pray for them, as they are pursuing a vengeful, capricious god, that is leading them all to destruction. Pray, but don't be easily deceived that all religions are the same. Not convinced? Read the Bible, and then the Quran...the differences are blatant. You don't have to dig deep to see them. Let us pray for them, but not be naive, and may we be knowledgeable and ready to defend ourselves when called for.

Well there you have it folks - this is the product of our educational system.

Irish were raped and starved out of their own nation by the British for 500 years. They fought on both sides of the American Civil War right off the boats in New York harbor.

The Italians were hung from trees by bigoted mobs in the USA.

Sicilians were invaded and robbed of their rights by Muslims for over 300 years!

LEARN SOMETHING BESIDES THE ABSOLUTE NONSENSE those teachers are espousing in that academy! For all that is good in this world, speak some sense to these children, somebody up there in Connecticut. And fire some teachers while you are at it.

Amen , they want me to TOLERATE THEIR INTOLERANCE and frankly I am getting sick of it. I immigrated to this country from Germany, learned the English language in 6 months. Lost my accent in one year, I love American culture and the life style, sure this country is not perfect but I love it and would not change it. You could give me a million dollars and I would not move back to Germany. If they want their culture so much why did they move here? And then force their culture down my throat? Americans are kind and tolerant people, don't push them too far, the Japanese and Nazis learned the hard way. So will the Radical Muslims, the fact they think they can win this war proves they are delusional, maybe some lithium in the Middle Eastern water supply?

More afghan women are setting themselves on fire.
http://abcnews.go.com/International/print...

Perhaps more of you need to read up the rights of women in muslim countries. Then maybe you will stop this romantic sort of handwringing. Women are non-entities in islam. Explore why women are forced to wear the burkha. Maybe those kids who 'discriminated' against her know that better than you. They sneer because they know how inhuman that culture is and this is the only way they know how to deal.
