1 As for the jerk-off (lol) who celebrates people being killed without knowing anything about the situation... well hopefully there aren't many people as ignorant as you in the world. |

Sean - Is this Sean B? It's Rebecca from your old place of employ going back at least 8 years??- you know, that airline. Even if it's not you - My heart goes out to you and Gonzalo's family and friends. Working and hanging out with him - I know Gonzo differently then what some of these people are assuming - he wasn't a dirt bag deserving to die. He had such a huge (great) personality and did not deserve to die like this!!! Again - my heart goes out to all of you who were closest to him - words cannot express the sadness over this whole situation. |

Gonzalo was an old co-worker and friend I hadn't heard from in over a year, and I terribly regret this. When I hear ignorant comments such as 'billigerent fool' it makes my blood boil. The Gonzalo I knew was, for the record, very sweet, intelligent, witty, and absolutely someone you liked to be around.
Message to all of you inconsiderate, hate mongers - Wait for all of the facts to come in before you make your ignorant judgements - even then, you can count on distortions in the press I'm sure. In the end, it will not change my opinion of Gonzo. My heart goes out to his parents and everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. |

1 Gonzalo was not a drug dealer, and did not live in the residence where he was killed. He was an educated, kind, loving, lost soul. The ignorance written by so many people on this thread is baffling. How can you write comments when all of the circumstances and the truth as to what really happened are not out yet? From the information I have read, he was simply at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Tragic. It takes time to organize a search warrant. It so happened Gonzalo was at the Easton residence when the officers arrived to raid. Does this make Gonzalo a criminal? No. And the latest information: NO GUNS FOUND IN RAID THAT KILLED NORWALK RESIDENT Only those that were there know the facts as to what really happened. Bottom line, a person was killed and the were no guns involved. How many times have we seen something similar on the news before? It's all very sad. I hope that the facts continue to come out and the ignorant bloggers above have enough information to write and judge correctly. Right now, there are a bunch of ignorant people blogging about something they know very little about, and obviously have nothing better to do than write uneducated hurtful words. Imagine if this was your family or friend. Go do something better with your time. |

1 Spot on. Makes me sick that my tax money pays for these police fanatics. Gonzalo was a good person and could not possibly pose a threat to an officer if he was unarmed. Police are not meant to be judge, jury and executioner. I hope this is dutifully investigated and that any wrongdoing by the officers involved is punished with a heavy hand. Gonzalo will be sorely missed. |

I knew him as well. And concur with everything that you say here. I also wonder if it was some kind of a suicide mission?? At the same time, flashbang grenades coming in through the windows is enough to put anyone on-guard and scared. Maybe he was looking for a quick exit to get out of harms way and ran into the cops.... All I can say is he was very bright, witty and had a great sense of humor. I didn't have any issues with him and it was true that he had been talking about putting together an employment agency. God Speed to his parents. |

1 IT is said, "As empty vessles make the loudest sound, so they with the least wit are the greatest babblers." So it is with JWII. When we know we're wrong, when we don't we don't have any truth to stand on, when we have no real point to make but just want to make noise (like an "empty vessle making the loudest sound"), the mindless resort to all they know and the only way they know how to communicate with others: With vile and venom, hyper-emotionalism, and rampant, violent-sounding profanity. A framed poster hung on the wall of the local Boy's Club in town when I was a boy. It read simply, "Profanity never made a man out of a boy." But perhaps rational thought and speech is beyond JWII. What a surprise!(not) |

Gonz was a very close friend of mine. We lived together in college (Fairfield University)for a number of years. I have never met a smarter, more charming and clever guy then Gonzy and I will miss him forever. This world is a worse place without him. I am an attorney in Chicago and the CEO of non-profit legal service organization, providing pro bono legal services to our community's low-income seniors and individuals with special needs. I will do everything in my power to vindicate Gonz. But, in the meantime, my heart breaks for his parents, who are good people and lost another son 10 years ago. I can't imagine the pain they are currently experiencing. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO BURRY A CHILD. If any of his friends would like to organize a memorial or a scholarship fun at Prep or Fairfield University, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Much Love, Michael |

This was a search warrant so the police probably already had their guns drawn and theirs spines tingling. |

1 The situation is sad. However because you are friend of Gonzalo does not mean that the police were wrong with their actions. First, other posters claim to know Gonzalo and say he is lost soul and didnt make good decisions. Not saying he deserved to die but could explain his reaction to charge the police. Second, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time? This place was a drug house, guns were discovered there weeks prior. Third, police identify themselves numerous times before and while entering a location. So when you ask what I would do. I would first not be in a known drug house and second I would lie on the floor or put my hands up if I were standing. Forth, I would not have decided to charge the police officers. They have split second decision to make and when a person is running. And these cops knew there had been guns discovered here weeks earlier. I know its your friend and it is sad but trust me, the police officers involved dont want to pull that trigger. And this may be stereotypical but I would not be surprised if those two individuals were in an altered state at the time of this event. |

1 How is a friend a friend if their life is so tragic that all they do is sap your energy? Here's my big beef with all of this. All of you who decide the cops are all fascists, that they over reacted...are prejudjing as much as anybody else....and those 'friends' of Gonzalos...where were you when he needed you? You were there and he didn't listen. Admit it. In the meantime...I'm sick of everybody blaming the cops for everything. Gonzalo was a decent if not flawed guy. Anybody who knows him can't be surprised by his fate. |

1 It's sad this man's life is lost but he was in at the wrong place at the wrong time and the place was a hooker filled crack house where violence occured on a weekly basis. My relative is a neighbor. You guys don't know the half of it. PERIOD. All the violence that surrounded this house.. the police were RIGHT to approach the situation the way they did! No officer wants to play with "toys" and harm someone intentionally but you all are so tough behind your keyboards to write such things. And from what I've heard your "friend" had a death wish. Possibly suicide by cop? Regardless of his size, he's charging at armed officers, children carry weapons in forgein countries, does that make it okay b/c of their size? Good luck with your pro-bono civil suit, I don't see it going anywhere when the facts are revealed. I know the resident of Dogwood would agree with that!!!!!!! |

1 I feel for his family. They are friends of ours and now have lost both of their sons. That must be the hardest thing for parents to bear. I hope people have more compassion. |
