He was a good man. He left a good legacy to this city when others choose to forget it. One of a kind.

Mayor Mike was such a vibrant personality. You could tell that he loved what he did. It was a wonderful thing to see someone take so much pride in their city, something that had been missing from Hartford for a long time. Most telling of the kind of guy he was comes not from his work as mayor, but from his restaurant. He believed in the city and its potential, and established a restaurant that reflected his vision. If more people loved the city like Mayor Peters did, Hartford could undergo a renaissance unlike anything we could ever imagine. Much of what the current administration can do and many ofthe city's improvements come from the efforts of this great man. Go with God, Mayor Mike. The world, Hartford especially, is a better place because you were in it.

As a young professional, I lived and worked in Hartford during the 1990s, and so I can honestly state that Mayor Mike Peters was the #1 reason why the working middle class did not totally abandon the City at that time. His optimism regarding the City’s future was both refreshing and contagious. He was careful not to engage in “social engineering” but yet the City was able to pick itself up by its bootstraps and later thrived under his administration. The City of Hartford has lost another one of its Champions.

Mike was the best. The only person in public life without the desire to seek personal benefit. I was there in the beginning when the big shots thought he was nuts to run. Nobody knew the power and hard work that was ahead. Just look back at all that was done. He lived a life that had so many hats. A wonderful husband and father, grandfather, son and brother.
A peace maker, an extraordinary individual of exceptional character, intelligence, and humility The list is too long. He made it easy to be his friend. You could always get his help. You could always count on him.
This man was made of gold with a heart full of love. He will be so missed. Hartford will never be the same for me.
God bless you Mike. Rest in peace

Can't say I'll miss him, he brought down all the Housing Projects and ever since he's left, the gang violence has escalated to unprecedented levels. Can't say that Eddie was a part of that little fiasco. Should've let those animals in their cages, instead the citizens of Hartford are now prey to these imbecils who don't know left from right. What a damn legacy indeed.
