this is a much better written article than the one Hilda wrote about the guy shot " in the butt" in hartford. I do point out though that "withholding" is one word. not the two words "with holding" that were used in the article. maybe its the editor who is letting Hilda down here by not "editing" her work. hey, a small point perhaps but if we want the courant to come back as strong as it once was apparently we all need to help!

More than two hours ago I heard the name of the second fatality on a Rocky Hill. radio station. No mention of police "withholding" information. Why is the Courant so beholden to the badge people?

It's a jungle out there. Thanks DOT for giving us no alternative but to risk our lives to travel, since highways were the only thing you were capable of having in this part of the state. Fire the whole DOT.

I haven't driven on one of our state highways in months. Ever since my wife got me a GPS system for my car, I avoid the highways like the plague that they are. Too many idiots that think they own the roads. It's a constant parade of 80mph speeders, tailgating "headlight flashers" (like they're responding to a life or death emergency), people that don't know the meaning of the word "yield" and the ever present "lane weavers" that all seem to have broken signal lights.

I hope the driver gets put in jail for murder. None of these indivituals in question were over twenty-one years of age and they were all drinking and speeding, odviously! Have we all forgotten that two lives were taken here, by a underaged drunk driver!!!!! Lets greive and hold those accountable for their actions. Friends dont let friends drive drunk!!!!

" How can you make a statement like that? Where is your evidence that any one was drinking or speeding? You are jumping to conclusions because of their age? What we have here is a terrible tragedy, that is the only thing that is fact. Your comment is ignorant and offensive. You call your self a logical thinker but you obviously show yourself to be the complete opposite of that. Out of respect for the victims and the grieving families involved I ask any one to wishes to post about this story to have a heart. Two girls lost their lives in this accident and I think it is unfair for any one to jump to conclusions and speculate about what happened. For now lets just think about what was lost and pray for strength of their friends and families.

I agree!! in this case "friends" may have let "friends" drive drunk: and it cost two of the "friends" their lives. had there been any traffic nearby it could have killed even more people.

And learn to use the "reply" option so you don't have to write out the entire comment that you disagree with. You are overly harsh in your judgment of the writer. And whether or not "logical thinker" is logical at least he or she is an actual thinker. ha ha.

Terrorists are thinkers too, should we glorify them also? What that person wrote was stupid no matter how your slice it. I just want to know who told him or her that these individuals were drinking and driving. I agree with the defender. Lets not rush to judgment until we get all the facts.

I work with Shanequa's mother and the cousin of one of the other girls. Shanequa's mom makes my day when I see her because of her big smile. She likes to tease me and we have fun. She was not there today. She won't be there tomorrow. It's going to be hard to see her without that smile as she grieves over the most unthinkable loss - one's child. Our daughters are the same age. I got bent because my daughter got yet another tattoo and piercing and got back with her useless boyfriend. I should consider myself lucky that's all I have to complain about. Spiffy Tiffy, I'm with you, my heart is with you. Whether the driver was impaired does not change things. Who alive today doesn't have a story to tell about doing something they shouldn't have and wondered how you lived through it? You think you're invincible at that age. Whatever the cause, whatever the end result of the investigations. We still have a tragedy here, for all parties.

Most of us haven't killed anyone because we chose to get drunk and operate a deadly weapon. I hope you understand this is not normal behavior, nor should someone be honored who did this. That is not an honorable life choice, that would be a disgraceful, horrible without a doubt act.
