it is rtefreshing to see young people on the right track. often it is not the easy way and opens the door to criticisms from the liberal left, or well meaning uneducated politically types that have this country interrnally nembroiled with issues about welfare, fatherless families, disruptive students, crime on our streets. when these young people lead by example and don't become part of these abhorant groups, maybe the light will go on in the noodles of these critics. God bless and stay the course

Gee, poor oppressed young religious conservatives! How terrible it must be to be ridiculed by your classmates merely for suggesting that the consensual love of millions of human beings for each other is actually an evil act that guarantees that they will all burn in hell in eternal torment! I guess the new right-wing version of political correctness is that their medieval ideas should be tolerated. Talk about "anything goes!"

Instead of continuing to be obsessed by the "gays", if the so-called "family institute" is really concerned about families, why aren't they reaching out to families and teens in Hartford who have hugh rates of teen pregnancies, STDs, HIV and lack of involvement by fathers? These people only show up at legislative hearing that have to do with sex education and anything gay/lesbian and are never at hearings about health care, housing, poverty-reduction...so exactly whose family are they concerned about?

One of the great things about America is the freedom of opinion. I am glad that the group highlighted in the article is not going with the flow but seriously thinking about of some the key moral challenges of our time.

One other thing...the article's title states that "they formed their own group". Not so. It's part of the so-called Famliy Institute of CT.

These kids can be offended, and gays can be offended that they are offended. All the offended can then cry to mommy government. Mommy government will then force the offended, through mandatory diversity training, to hug until they love each other. All this courtesy of the tax dollars from those who don't give a **** one way or the other.

This argument is over used and comes from an ignorant viewpoint. no, Jesus would not discriminate against anyone... in fact, he was often criticized in his day for hanging out with the lowest of the low; prostitutes and tax collectors (to day we call the "politicians") BUT -- that doesn't mean that he turned a blind eye to sin. He offered forgiveness and love for those people. Groups like the one in this article do no discriminate either. Re-read the girl's high-school point of view on homosexuality. She said the ACT is wrong but the people doing it merely need love. This is not hate or discrimination. It is simply understanding that we just because its easier to live in a "do what feels good" society, doesn't mean that its the right way to live.

I find it interesting that they feel they must isolate themselves in order to build their beliefs. It sounds more like a cult then a religion that can survive while still existing amoungst all us run of the mill sinners. To each their own....I hope they find the happiness they seem to be seeking.

God Bless these kids, and God Bless all on this forum whose hate shows how desperately you need the prayers. Liberals love to bash conservatives for being mean and full of vitriol. Aren't the liberals on this forum now acting the same way? Just because someone doesn't agree with the way YOU think? Bigotry goes both ways. The difference is these kids never said anyone would burn in hell, as some of you put it. They said the ACT of homosexuality was immoral, not homosexuals themselves.

Why do people use the lame concept of connecting same sex marriage to HIV/AIDS? The World Health Organization has reported that more than 75% of all HIV in the world has been spread through heterosexual sex. If people want to claim that HIV is God's punishment, why did all those heterosexuals get punished. It's sad to see young people blinded by ignorance and hate through some crack pot group.

These people only show up at legislative hearing that have to do with sex education and anything gay/lesbian and are never at hearings about health care, housing, poverty-reduction...so exactly whose family are they concerned about? First off - I'm pleasantly surprised with the Courant for publishing this article. We need to see more of this. If there was, I'd actually pay for a subscription. Now - you're missing a HUGE point - if the traditional family and its values haden't been eroded by liberals to the extreme that we have today, we wouldn't need to worry about teen pregnancy, AIDS/HIV, and the other side effects from an entire generation growing up without the the benefit of a traditional family. CHILDREN NEED BOTH A MOTHER AND A FATHER - NOT 2 MOMMIES and NOT 2 DADDIES. By supporting traditional Christian family values, iFIC and the Family Institute are, in effect, addressing all of the issues that you raised. As to state-mandated sex-education in school, I see no reason why my elementary school aged children need the state's mandatory HIV/AIDS education program. I see no reason why my elementary school aged children need to read "And Tango Makes Three." I see no reason why my elementary school aged children cannot talk about their God in the classroom. And I see no reason why my elementary school aged children need to learn to defend their traditional morals and values to people who have NONE. The liberal left has had its way for the past 40 years or so, and look at where it has gotten us. Its time to turn back to God and to traditional families and values.
