Why aren't we talking about deportation.

If this is the discussion, then let's just open the borders and let's stop wasting money on border patrols and other security measures.

If once you get here, you get medical care, a driver's license, and primary and secondary education, then what is the penalty for being here "illegally?"

Why should illegals get a in state rate? This is one of the stupiest things that this state can do. They are ILLEGAL, I know in this liberal state that is a dirty word but really they dont deserve breaks. And yes it sucks that if you are a college bound kid you pay the price of your parents mistake when they came here illegally but if you arent a legal resident of this state then sorry you are out of luck

This is insanity.

The GA should be discussing ways to deport the illegals not to educate at the expense of legal Americans, both financial and opportunity-wise.

If this bill is passed and signed into law, I hope someone can organize the legal citizens to stop paying their state income taxes. Enough is enough.

This is yet another reason why all GA incumbents, particularly Democrats, must be voted out in November.

Obama suggested the same thing last night in a debate for education for illegal aliens. I am slowly changing my mind on him.

I haven't even read this whole article yet. I need to point out a typo in the first sentence. The word illegal alien is not there. In its place is a euphemism.

The Courant poll shows overwhelming opposition to giving illegals a tuition discount. And nationally, there is suppport for some type of deportation.

The democrats seem to be on the wrong side of this issue - and it could very easily result in President McCain!

Middle (class) American is in no mood for politicians giving away their hard earned taxes. It's (still) the economy stupid!

They are breaking the law, they should not be here. You don't reward law breakers, or do you.

Why are we electing such poor represenatives? Why should illegals have an opportunity to use our schools, take away seats from our students that want to go to school and take classes that our citizens may have to wait to take because certain classes are full because of undocumented ILLEGAL ALIENS. The illegals march in our countries demanding equality, burning our AMERICAN FLAGS and praising their own countries! HMMM They got here ILLEGALLY SO WE EDUCATE THEM AND KEEP THEM ON OUR WELFARE SYSTEM they go back to THEIR COUNTRY after we have educated them and attack us with the knowledge that we provided them. WORKS FOR ME!

Illegal Aliens? What's wrong here- we do not have enough resouces for people who are paying taxes! They should be charged double for the PRIVILAGE of an education in this country! Then, they should become teachers for 1 year or serve the military for this PRIVIALGE!...

In an interesting twist, it appears only the ignorant take time to post their hate-filled propoganda on this board. These kids are here by no fault of their own. Let them get a education so they can be productive members of society. Wow. Unreal.

"We have the kids here. Let's provide for the opportunity for them to become good citizens, good professionals," he said. "They will be taxpayers. We all want well-educated individuals in our state, so let's provide them the opportunity."

The first thing a good citizen does is obey the law.

How many people here actually contact their state reps? It's all well and good to P&M about this and other matters here, but if you have the intestinal fortitude you really ought to call or write (snail mail) your reps. I do. I'm all for the free expression of views here and other forums, but it really does no good.

If you do call, don't be shocked or surprised if you're treated shabbily or degraded in some fashion if your view doesn't fall in lockstep with the moonbat view.

State support for the CSu's has dropped to almost 40%. 60% of the higher ed is now on the backs of the tuition payers and fundraising. Now this crap!? The day the state of CT gets back to funding it's higher ed system in a decent manner is the day they consider giving away the farm. Oh wait, these individuals are still ILLEGAL!!! Stop this insanity and move on with more important business in this shortened session. People should flood the legislature and media organizations in opoosition to this bill.

there are too few seats at the higher education table in CT as it is, forcing LEGAL residents to send their kids out of state & pay higher out of state tuition costs for their LEGAL kids. Until there is a seat for every LEGAL CT child in a CT college, this matter shouldn't even come up for discussion.
