Im surprised groton dosent get free power from the navy, heck one of the subs should be able to power just about half the town.

I've heard some pretty funny stories from years ago when boat power backfed to the shore power lines overpowering them......... Blackouts throughout the town and into NewLondon.
I say a new nuke if it makes sense for this site or better yet, several new nukes elsewhere in the state that could power the whole state.
Oh yea, did I mention that they should be STATE owned? Screw NU they are raping us monthly, second highest cost of juice in the country is truly affecting our standard of living. Regulation needs to happen severely in this field, elsewhere throughout the country they are paying as low as .07 per kwh, hell I would be happy with twice that number these days.

oh god, could you just picture the hysterics of senator dodd if a new low income housing project went up just down the road from his countrywide estate? that would be almost worth the blight that such a development would bring. im sure it would have to be closed in 15 years and torn down so i guess it could work. maybe they could set up a coop style project with the tenant/owners all getting 'friends of angelo" style mortgages. hey, where are the papers dodd promised now that the housing bill is passed? he must be busy consoling edwards along with sue b and eddy p.

I would like to see the numbers. Nuke fanatics always brag about how cheap it is for nuclear power.
However, the price tag is up to 98 billion for Yucca mountain, and that isn't included in your power bill. That is paid for by the federal taxpayers. Furthermore, I bet that really is depressing for the people who live off the grid.

Does anyone know the total cost for CT Yankee (land + construction + annual budgets + decommisioning + spent fuel storage for infinity years)? I would love to do an inquiry into the facts.

Build a new nuke plant. Build lots of them, and stop bankrupting America by sending all our energy dollars to a bunch of middle eastern barbarians.

the properety should be preserved as open space since it's one of the largest tracks of land in the lower connecticut river.the town of haddam should try to preserve it and tell the current owners to stick to their original word saying they would preserve the land.it's bull shit they can retrack and try to sell it for profit, which to me is unethical.
