Anyone ever had a wicked step mother?and why wasent it stopped?

I have heard a grandmother say several times to her teenage grandson when
she didn't like what he said or did, "I'm going to treat you like an orphan child." After what this young man has already been through in his young life I feel this is a very negative statement. He needs more positive encouraging words in his life.
