They are scared, especially when one thinks about the implications of "trade favors for the court's support of slot machine legislation."
If proven, it could get real ugly. We could end up with a new legislature and judiciary.

I LOVE that this gambling thing just won't go away. I applaud all the people fighting for justice and trying to expose this "good old boy's club" for all it lying, cheating and corruption. These politicians are growing fat on the backs of the middle class. Thank God for these informed groups fighting the corruption. Every citizen needs to keep informed. These judges should have been voted out in the last election. I know I did my best to do that.
More people need to voice their opinion. Stay informed! We have a pile of scoundrels in office. Time to call in an exterminator. |

If "Fast Eddie" says he's innocent, I believe him !!!

I think there might be some merit to these allegations.
6 months before licenses were granted to the prospective casinos, someone with very close ties with the Bethlehem administration was already bragging that they (and the City of Bethlehem) were already "99% sure" the casino license would be awarded to Bethlehem. The source is far from being a swami, by the way. Despite of all the Harrisburg formality, funny how those words came to pass - months later. |

In today's Wall Street Journal ("A Rich History of Corruption" by John Fund,, p. A13) columnist John Fund takes Gov. Rendell to task for not reforming state election laws. He goes on:
But Mr. Rendell's history doesn't inspire confidence that he takes fraud of any kind seriously. In 1994, Philadelphia Democrat Bill Stinson was booted from office as a state senator by a federal judge who found his campaign had rounded up 250 tainted absentee ballots. Mr. Rendell, then Philadelphia's mayor, had this reaction to the Stinson scandal: "I dont think it's anything that immoral or grievous, but it clearly violates the election code." In 1997, Mr. Rendell admitted to the Journals editorial board that Philadelphia judges had a "rich history of corruption" that called into question how fairly city laws are enforced. |

Payraise for slots, not a bad deal. What's next, more pension increases for table games? Republican caucus leaders at the time, Perzel, Smith, and Argall could be in deep doo doo. Maybe they will take the fifth, or at least drink a fifth.
