Each year Charter Communications raising its prices again, again and again.

Last year Charter raised its internet pipeline services from $39.00 to $54.00 a month and that is only internet services. They try to get people to get packages as the package minimal price is $98.00 a month not including taxes.

CEO Paul Allan is so wealthy; he bought himself a $150 million yacht besides the other ridiculous price tag toys he buys. It is a shame living in a town that the population of own house owners is 5% and the rest renters, companies like Charter Communications is ripping people off on these Internet Cable scams.

Shame on you Charter Communications from stealing from the poor.

There is by far no monopoly for internet service on the central coast. Charter is not ripping you off, they are simply asking you for more than you want to pay. Tough. Get over it.

I went on charter website to look at pricing because I felt our rates we were being charged for expanded basic were too high. We had 3 price increases with in one year from charter. When I went on the website there I find the price of expanded basic for $2 less than what we are currently paying. This was no special, no promotion just a cheaper price. I called charter to ask why I am being billed one price and the website says another. They said there is nothing they can do about it, your bill is your bill. I asked to talk with a manager, the customer service person asked me if I would wait 10 minutes on hold while they got a manager. I waited 15 minutes (I think she thought I was going to hang up) and finally talked with a supervisor. They also had no reasoning as to why it was cheaper on the website but yet would not do anything about my bill. I encourage anyone and everyone to examine their bill and then go on the website and look at pricing--you too may find you are being ripped off.$2.00 x 12 months x how many years will add up!!!!!
Charter is the worst, when will Wisconsin get another cable company????????

Recently I received a bill from Charter where I'm being charged for the TV channels I've never had(I have only Cable Internet). After calling them, being on hold forever, they were trying to convince me that I have the channels - what is ridiculous! Charter likes to play games with people, a lot of my co-workers had similar problems. I don't like this tendency when customer is being treated like shit.

We got a notice from Charter that said our bill was going to go up. I called, and they said we were due a lower price, since there was a promotion. I ended up with a DVR and a bill $15.00 less than I was paying before...Go figure!

Charter is a rip, after being a customer of 5 years I've left and I won't come back. After taxes and fees a monthly cable modem service is now $60.27. I'll work with the telephone companies instead as they will eventually drive Charter out of business anyway. For TV I'll go with a satellite dish.

Recently I had to cancelsome services with Charter b/c of the price increases. While investigating the cost of my new package I spoke with three different people and was given three different prices for the same services ranging from 99.95-135.00. I'm not sure what is going on there? I've been with Charter for 15+ years and never been more frustrated. Very much thinking of switching to satellite.

Charter is the WORST company I have ever dealt with! I have NO idea how a company like this can be in business - they have NO idea what customer service is!!! Prices are one thing, service is another. It is now March of 2007 and I have not had the correct services since October of 2006...but they are billing me for them and will not credit me for them. I have called countless times and have sometimes spent 5 hours at a time with them on the phone being transfered to different people, being on hold etc. Even after a service man came out, still it does not work right. And yet I can't get anyone LOCALLY to help me. I only get customer service in the Phillipines where they have no idea about what is going on, they just read from a script (it is not their fault, but it is no help!). Charter has absolutely NO ethics and should be shut down. I am in the process of finding different options.

I have had it also with Charter here in Tennessee. Changing the stations, not receiving service. Increasing the bill. When I called to cancel, that's when they offered me a "better package." Sorry, nuckleheads, it was too late. They do steal from the public. The poor is taken care of in my opinion.

Charter is a rip off company forsure, I lived in Orange County (Irvine) and the cost of cable is much lower, and my inlaws live in Bakersfield, there cable rates are also lower.Folks in Kern County say that livng on the central coast is a rip off, and its getting harder to buy a home here also. Its true, more people rent on the central coast than any other area in the state of califonria. The (Jew) bastards at Charter are making all the money.

Charter sucks. Whoever is supporting on this thread is either an employee or is paid to write in favor of charter. Charter sucks because:
- Very high prices. Monopoly
- Terrible Internet speed as compared to Comcast & Time Warner
- Down the hill, lame customer service

I hate charter. I had TWC in central wiconsin. Bes service. was paying 79$ for high speed internet (6mps down and 387kbs up speed), Digital cable with HBO, DVR. Only 79$.
Charter now is $134 for basic digital cable. No HBO. Internet with only (2mps down and 220kbs up). No DVR either.
Hate the customer service too. I wish they all die

Charter is the dark evil empire that lives in te universe.. I only had cable modem service but they charged me for tv.. then they said they could terminate my services because I had a router installed to share the internet to my other computers.. They said I needed to buy each system an IP for 2.95 a month.. Not happening.. needless to say they terminated my services for having the router.. I ended up completely ripping all the cable out of the house along with the cable modem and returned it to there office

So, let me get this straight...you had a problem with a cable company, and you ripped the cable out of your house? I imagine you are a renter, as no right thinking individual would purposely ruin part of the infrastructure of an asset they own...WOW. You know, it is funny...many people wonder why rents are so high...could it be that renters do not treat their home as if it was their own? What makes someone think that just because they feel the price of something is too high, that they can take matters into their own hands and 'correct' it themselves? If the problem is there with the cable company, go to the city, and attend the council meetings with regards to the 'monopoly' the cable company holds.

And, by the way, I agree that the Charter cable rates are too high...I don't, however, see myself ripping out my cable.

charter has the worst customer service possible. I had my cable modem problems and called CS and the first time the lady said to call back the next day, why i have no idea, so the next day will it still being out I called back and got the same lady she said there was an outage and to call back in 3 hours. So I waited until the next night still no internet and called again, got someone different, he tells me there was NO outage and would need a tech to come out. Heres the best part, he told me my appt would be friday from 1 to 5pm, they NEVER showed up or called, about 430 i called and they said your appt was cancelled and moved to monday. I was of course furious, and said it wasnt good enough, and after long battles and argueing, he said we will have someone there saturday from 8am to 8pm, yes a 12 hour time frame. Guess what still noone came or called. They did show up monday. They SUCK!! I called to cancel my cable because I got dish service, they offered me a discount, I told them HELL NO, now I need to find other internet service since I dont have a home phone.

It is understandable that increasing prices on services you have been accustomed to receiving cheaper can be frustrating. But, this is not electricity or rent. We are talking about cable tv. "Real" poor people can not even imagine having something as frivilous as additional tv channels.

Maybe your frustrated right now and haven't thought about how much it costs to lay cable or all the new technologies. I just got a notice in the mail that Charter is offering phone service soon. I am sure that they don't just plug in phones and "tadaa" phone service. They have new equipment costs, more employees, Advertising costs...etc. to think about and unfortunately someone has to pay for it.

The beautiful thing about America is you can start your own cable company and charge whatever you like. We'll see if you can offer everything they do at cheaper prices. I think you have just not thought this all the way through.

PS Paul Allen owns a few more businesses than just Charter Communications. The others are MUCH more profitable.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Virgo

Someone is being headstrong and wilful, and absolutely determined to do what they want. Mercury is retrograde and it's a Full Moon in Cancer with a lunar eclipse all happening tonight! This could lead to some heated discussions and possibly even rows, as you argue the toss back and forth. It might be best to accept that there's very little possibility of reaching an agreement rather than to get locked in a stubborn battle of wills. Besides, you don't want anything to spoil what promises to be a very enjoyable New Year's Eve. Have fun!
