Harlan County Detention Center

Any one else think the hcdc needs to be shut down?
They are way to over crowded and not to mention people being mistreated!

Yeah hcdc sucks, they need to investigate what goes on in that jail...

Harlan County is such a screwed up place, No one cares if people in jail are dying or being mistreated. All the law enforcement cares about is tryin to bully people around cause they can! I cant wait for the day when someone slaps a law suit on HARLAN COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT!

...don't do the crime. Jail isn't a place of luxury. It's a place for criminals. Perhaps you'd like the red carpet rolled out for the people you know who is in there? You think it's bad there, LOOK at what people do to get in there.

I think they should make it bigger so they can keep you criminals in there longer instead of turning you out to make room for more. Don'tcha think that would be a wiser move instead of having all you criminals run the streets?(Please note: I refer to "you" as "criminals" because I can't see anyone other than a criminal posting something as ridiculous as this.)

What about the people who are wrongfully accused?

I dont live in Harlan anymore nor have I ever been in jail there. But both of my parents are in there right now. They have both had to be transported to the hospital a number of times for not getting there meds. I have heard some stories about that jail.

Anyone who has ever had to do time in hcdc will tell you, That place is a joke! how many people have to die in there befor something is done about it? But I guess you think because they are CRIMINALS who cares right!

Its not BS, it happens all the time! Actually it happens more in small towns!!

I think a lot of people r wrongfully accused. Yes the jail should be added on too so they can house all the people Alred is putting in there. I know the drugs r bad here but I don't know, it just seems like that is all they look for now. Just cause u get meds. legally doesn't mean u r a dealer.

People are wrongfully accused in this county and go to jail for no reason other then they diddn't do what the cops wanted them to do.

It's a money racket, close it down the place is a joke, and nasty as hell.

Yeah both of my parents are hcdc right now for trafficing. As I said I dont live in Harlan any more and I dont know much about the law enforcement down there, but I do know my parents are being held on some BS! And I have heard so many stories about that jail, I hope I never go to jail in Harlan!

i was put there for 11 days, for a failue to apper, nothing to do with drugs. instead of going to court i was at a funeral home arrangeing my mom's funeral.. it's a joke..

Which court? Did you get out of it?

How many people have Died in that place? I was put in there once 6 days Beleive me Im not going back.It's the most nasty place I have ever see in my life!!!!!!!

the toliets flow out in the floor,there are really bad bugs,sleeping on half inch mats on the floor,not enough toliet paper,not enough food,taking your money if you go to the doctor,taking your first 20 dollars for booking(some people are lucky to be able to get 20 dollars then they take it),one wool blanket even in the winter with very little heat on, Just because someone is in jail does not mean they should be treated in-human! the price for phone calls are crazy also.
