A veteran Los Angeles Police Department officer with experience running the agency's criminal gang and homicide division has assumed command of the Harbor Division.
How long did she actually work in patrol? Sounds like she has been fast tracked for promotion, with too many desk jobs and then some strategic assignments to enhance the resume.
The last Capt was a failure when it came to crime supression, although he looked good on the surface. A very ambitous guy.
So we will see how this new female Captain does. Most these days are hybred bureaucrats, following a formula, with very little imagination. Self promotion usually a big part of their agenda.
A veteran of Gang/Homicide? She was just appointed to this positioin in 2011, does that qualify as a veteran. Promoted from Lt to Capt, in an unheard of three years. Formerly in cushy positions in Communications and Traffic. Reportedly named in a recent lawsuit by subordinates over traffic ticket quotas.
How do they get into these exclusive in house clubs. The last Capt just got the gold ring in his new position, after although showing up and trying hard in the Harbor, proved naive and incompentent in Wilmington.. Too many Capt's going through the Harbor, not even staying that long, before climbing higher.
