This is the major down side of the post agrarian society where every transaction is done with currency. In an agrarian society pretty much every man was his own employer. He would either grow his own food or own cattle and would be in a position to survive even if money was not available…..independent or interdependent people do not need unemployment benefit or even the Federal Reserve…...the system that we have is a crooked system that is set up by the bankers, via the government for the benefit of the bankers.

People have been sold on the idea that the current system is the best way to live so when one aria goes down it ripples to the other sectors. In today’s world one cannot live unless the bankers/Federal Reserve produce the money (through dept) that we need to do the things that we need buy sell and earn - this is slavery.

The very people who control and run the system created the mess we are in and has been rewarded for doing it.

This is all in the hands of our more then qualified democratic Congress, Senate and President. Hopefully these brave americans will save the day and reverse this terrible situation. I certainly have hope for some great changes. Oh wow, we will have health care for all the future unemployeed. the more we burden society, the more we will be heading for the Abyss.

10% unemployment rate.

Look at the positive side. Ten percent unemployment means that 90 percent of Americans are gainfully employed, a statistic that makes most other nations (non-socialist) drool with envy and encourages immigration to the United States, both legal and illegal.

Some say that getting a job these days is like getting accepted to Harvard University. Bull crap! The ten percent unemployed should try working smarter and not necessarily harder to find a job, even if it means the necessity to lie, cheat or steal to get that job. The end justifies the means in this day and age. Good morals and ethics will just keep you in the unemployment rolls.

There are jobs out there that are begging for applicants. Might not be the most attractive work in the world but just the same, it's work that pays. If a person is unemployed, it is only because he or she doesn't want to work. It is NOT because they can't find a job.

Alice, You have been in chains too long and out of touch with reality.

The fact that the true unemployment rate is 17.5% reflects the people that have accepted lower paying or part time jobs to get by. When I hire employees I can see through the lies and the cheating so that will not work, and to steal to get a job, how does that work?
