Judged: 1 1 1 Not only that... Cheney, as CEO of Halliburton, lobbied Clinton to get the OK for Halliburton to work in Iran. At that time, US Businesses were not allowed to sell to Iran. Clinton said no. Cheney turned to the Republican Congress that passed a law saying that US companies could sell into banned countries thru independently run subsidiaries. Halliburton formed one in the Middle East & sold Halliburton services into Iran. An investigative reporter went there to ask some questions & they were referred to the Houston office. Some independence there. When we invaded Iraq, Bush was saber rattling for war with Iran stating sanctions weren't working. Well Da, what country would join us because Halliburton was working in Iran at that time. Here we were with sanctions & there was Cheney's former company still working in Iran under deals Chaney made. Halliburton was helping Iran produce oil that it sold for money that they used to send IEDs into Iraq to kill our soldiers. I believe Halliburton worked in Iran until 2006 or 2007. |

Judged: 1 1 .......... Truth Squad: Obama touts job creation record January 25, 2012|By the CNN Wire Staff President Barack Obama discussed job numbers before and after he took office during Tuesday night's State of the Union address. The statement: "In the six months before I took office, we lost nearly 4 million jobs. And we lost another 4 million before our policies were in full effect. Those are the facts. But so are these. In the last 22 months, businesses have created more than 3 million jobs. Last year, they created the most jobs since 2005." .......... The facts: U.S. nonfarm employment stood at just more than 137 million jobs in July 2008, before the already-under-way recession turned into a nosedive following that September's financial crisis. By January, when Obama took office, the figure had fallen to about 133.5 million -- a loss of about 3.5 million jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Obama quickly pushed a nearly $900 billion economic stimulus measure through Congress, a measure economists projected would reverse or at least slow the collapse. But the economy continued to shed jobs until February 2010, with employment falling by an additional 4.3 million before the trend started back upward. The U.S. economy created about 2 million private-sector jobs in 2011, according to the BLS -- a figure comparable to 2005, when 1.9 million jobs were created. And since job growth resumed, the economy has added about 3 million jobs. The verdict: True. Obama accurately characterizes the up-and-down trend of his administration's record on jobs -- and his predecessor's. But as Republicans are quick to point out, the U.S. economy remains about 5 million jobs in the hole from the 2007 peak. .......... I post objective facts from legitimate news sources. Judged: 2 2 2 ---------- When Obama took office, the national debt was about $10.5 trillion. Today, it’s about $15.2 trillion. Simple subtraction gets you the answer preferred by most of Obama’s opponents:$4.7 trillion. But ask yourself: Which of Obama’s policies added $4.7 trillion to the debt? The stimulus? That was just a bit more than $800 billion. TARP? That passed under George W. Bush, and most of it has been repaid. ... In total, the policies Obama has signed into law can be expected to add almost a trillion dollars to deficits. ---------- Anybody interested in the truth can read the full analysis here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klei... For the wingnuts, here's the same information in graph form (so you don't have to struggle with all those words). http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/econom... First graph: Cost of Bush policies -$5.1 trillion (from 2001 to 2009) Second graph: Cost of Obama policies -$983 billion (from 2009 to 2017) Asinine claims like "Obama doubled the debt" or "Obama added more to the debt than all previous Presidents combined" are pure bullshit by nitwits who can't comprehend how the US national debt works. |

Judged: 1 1 1 .......... In their book Debacle, John Lott and Grover Norquist compare the Obama recovery to that of the 1982 recovery under Ronald Reagan. The double-dip 1980-81 recession was longer and produced higher unemployment than that of the so-called Great Recession, and it followed a decade of stagnation,“stagflation,” high interest rates, ill-considered wage and price controls, and energy shocks. Yet in the 29 months that followed the 1982 recovery, the American economy expanded jobs by 8 percent. In contrast, the Obama recovery in the same period only grew jobs in the US by 0.25 percent. oBUMMER, a four year failure [sic] |

.......... The Cost Of Obama's Stimulus Plan: $312,500 Per Job (Vote) Created Or Saved (And Guess Who Is Paying It) Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/12/2011 20:19 -0400 Gross Domestic Product White House For those eager to put some math to the rhetoric coming from the White House over the president's jobs creation plan, and that should be everyone, here is a quick and dirty estimate based on the numbers being thrown around of a 2% GDP increase in year 1 and 1.9 million jobs created or saved... most saved, as in those you can't really quantify. Said otherwise, roughly a $300 billion increase in GDP yields 1.9 million jobs. So far so good. Now since the president is proposing to pay for the program over 10 years, let's assume the $475 billion in direct expenses is financed for 10 years at 2.5% which adds roughly $120 billion to the total cost of the program. In other words, as the calculations detailed and show below elaborate, the overall AJA plan will cost $250,000 per job created (excluding the interest expense) and $312,500 per union job, er job created (including interest). And that's how much it costs for Obama to purchase one vote... created or saved. Keynesian efficiency strikes like a Swiss watch yet again. Federal Income Taxes on Middle-Income Families Remain Near Historic Lows By Chuck Marr Updated April 2, 2012 Federal taxes on middle-income Americans are near historic lows,[1] according to the latest available data. That’s true both for federal income taxes and total federal taxes.[2] Income taxes: A family of four in the exact middle of the income spectrum will pay only 5.6 percent of its 2011 income in federal income taxes, according to a new analysis by the Urban Institute-Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center.[3] Average income tax rates for these typical families have been lower during the Bush and Obama Administrations than at any time since the 1950s, as Figure 1 shows. (As discussed below, 2009 and 2010 were particularly low because of the temporary Making Work Pay Tax Credit.) Overall federal taxes: Overall federal taxes — which include income as well as payroll and excise taxes — on middle-income households are near their lowest levels in decades, according to the latest data from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm ... The wingnuts point to the economy and whine "It's not perfect yet, so Obama's a failure."
The fact of the matter is that, by EVERY objective measure, the economy is getting better as a result of Obama's policies. If it isn't happening fast enough it's because the right has decided to obstruct every effort to improve things in their permanent campaign to undermine everything Obama does. ---------- Four years ago, the economy was shrinking; now it's growing. Four years ago, the economy was hemorrhaging jobs; now it's gaining jobs. Four years ago, the unemployment rate was going up; now it's going down. Four years ago, the stock market was crashing; now it's reaching new heights. Four years ago, the deficit was getting bigger; now it's getting smaller. Four years ago, the American auto industry was on the verge of collapse; now it's thriving. ---------- These are the undeniable facts. Everything else is just rightwing static designed to OBSCURE the facts. |

Presidential Race Looks Different In Electoral College
Now that Mitt Romney is the all but official Republican presidential nominee, he's running close to President Obama in the national polls. But the presidency is actually determined not by a national vote but by 50 statewide elections, with each state result yielding a certain number of votes in the Electoral College. And looking at the elections that way makes the race look less close. http://www.npr.org/2012/05/02/151877354/presi... ---------- Go look at the electoral map as it stands today: http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/2012/romn... Obama - 288 Electoral Votes Romney - 170 Electoral Votes As a reminder - they need 270 electoral votes to win. Romney needs to practically run the table to win in November. He needs to get 70% of the "tossup" states out there, while Obama needs only 30%. So if Obama wins FL and OH or FL and PA, he gets to 270. But Romney would need to win FL, OH, NC, VA, and CO or NV. No matter what national polls say, it's a steep uphill climb for Romney. STEEP. |
|
|
For those who are frightened by websites that start with the word "huffington," RCP has their own clickable electoral map that lets you view polling state by state.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/... Notice: even the "tossup" states mostly have Obama in the lead right now. Steep, STEEP climb for Romney, no matter how you slice it. |

Obama "playing defense," but has advantage on electoral map
In this year's state-by-state race for the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election, Obama is the early favorite in states that would give him 227 electoral votes. Romney leads in states that would give him 180. That gives Obama larger room for error than Romney as the two wrestle for the 131 electoral votes at stake in the toss-up or "swing" states. ... Polls show close races in all of the key battlegrounds, although Obama has slight leads in Ohio and Florida, the cornerstones of any Romney victory scenario. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/05/01/us-... |

Judged: 1 1 1 A detailed analysis of Romney’s various paths to the 270 electoral votes he would need to claim the presidency suggests he has a ceiling of somewhere right around 290 electoral votes. While Romney’s team would absolutely take a 290-electoral-vote victory, that means he has only 20 electoral votes to play with — a paper-thin margin for error. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/mitt-r... |
