OUCH I too have seen all the promo dollars being taken now...My check was about 200.00 less than what I expected because of promos now. I am running more volume but check is getting smaller and smaller. I too have seen and experienced some "shady" things while being an IBO. I have some real concerns about moving foward as an IBO with this company!!! Thought this would be a good opportunity but am now having doubts!!! Hopefully I soon win the lottery...LOL!!

I don't know first hand but that would be my guess. Unfortunately the judge threw out most of his lawsuit. He lost. I think he has one minor part of it still active.

So, as it seems, the lies and BS of the S-L "merger" isn't solely based here in Florida. From what I have seen, so many DM's here are former Synder's DMs and have NEVER set foot into a C-Store except to buy gas on their company gas card. Master Distributors are out there WITH contracts from Lance, Inc to service stores that the RSR's would not go into. However, what the management team from the new S-L does not want anyone to know is that these Master Distributors are buying Lance branded product straight from Charlotte at a 30% profit margin.(With no route payment or $35 route service fee) As an IO, I am told I have to buy from my local S-L distribution center and only make 17.5% on brands we own.(And that is if product is in stock) I called Charlotte and asked to be able to buy directly from Lance and was told I couldn't since I was an IO. According to my contract, I am not limited to buying from my local DC, nor am I limited to carry only S-L products. Money maker for anyone that saw a few 100k laying around. Open a Master Distributor in a large metropolitan area and offer product to local IO's at a 25% profit. Sam's Club offers 4 flavors of Crackers for $.155 in a 40 pack, my DC offers me HP only at $.23 per cracker. This was a good idea on paper, it just seems that this merger(cough cough) was all about upper management making money and screwing the little guy. the potential is there to make a good living with this combination, just some common sense has to be applied somewhere. Anyone pull a credit report that has a route financed with MAW, or a Truck leased with Busch? It's not there, nor will it be unless you default. Sorry this is all over the place, but so much is wrong with this. It seems that the IO's are paying to work for a Compnay that doesn't care about the IO's and just about making numbers and keeping the stock looking good. Anyone remember when Lance tried to sell routes off in the past and then bought them all back because the integrity and image was tarnished? Please let me know if there is a Facebook page or other forum about this and I can share it with the others at my DC. See my name, can be reached on yahoo.

No cracker man. I got a letter from IRS disallowing some of my promo costs. Now I owe another 1400 in taxes. I am looking to sell. We have been lied, cheated and mislead by these crooks at SL. DON'T BELIEVE A WORD OUT OF THEIR MOUTHS BECAUSE IF IT'S MOVING THEY ARE LYING.

I am the wife of an IO and have had issues with the Settlement Reports since day 1. It is virtually impossible to predict what your check will be each week because of the promotions. Here is an equation that may help you: Sales for the Week - Load - Svc Fee - Rt pmt= Payment There will always be a 200-/+ difference due to promotions The key is to SELL OUT EVERY WEEK and to not touch the product that comes in your load until the following monday. So the load that comes in on Wednesday shouldnt be touched (other than checking it in) until Monday. Cash sales are not on the settlement report because that doesnt go thru the SL system. If you have alot of cash sales you may have to actually pay some of that back to SL. My husband only had 200-300 in cash sales a week so he just pockets that. I dont know who in accounting is in charge of your area, i will say that if it is Michelle Chapman, the only way i can get ahold of her is to send an email to Tom Harper tharper@snyderslance.com and when she gets an email forwarded from him she jumps right on it. Confused wrote: Can someone explain this settlement note. Where are the cash sales adjusted? If i deposit them in Snyder's account or if I keep the cash, where do they adjust that? Getting the accounting person on the phone seems to be near impossible. To you that are the ones who consider yourself successful IO's do you keep the cash sales or deposit it in S-L and let them settle with you?

Did they allow any of it Batman?? IO wife - you are an angel - my wife is dealing with all the insurance and business account issues. My accountant said to write off Saturday morning breakfast (after we merchandise) as weekly business and planning meetings. We really need them. It is sad because this could have been done a whole lot easier to help the IO's but on the flipside I dont go out of my way to be helpful. It's tough to balance because I would like to get my DM's help so I don't want to totally upset him and he does try to be understanding - he is caught square in the middle. The best thing is to educate yourself. I have a great accountant, lawyer, and mechanic - that's where you need to start!!

And yes the promotion dollar chargebacks hurt big - its why I don't go out of my way on it - a lot of work for a little over 15%

Here is another problem that I do not see anyone mentioning. Based the "chalk lines" that have been snapped, S-L is already in almost every customer to be in each route. So this means basically that there exist opportunity for growth. In order to make a profit, you must sell at a higher ratio (buy at 5:1 and sell at 10:1). However, S-L will only finance the 5:1 you paid original forcing the new purchase to front the additional 5:1 in cash. If a prospect had that kind of cash he would pursue other option if he were smart.

Why is it that the number one item for the C-store market, crackers, cannot be purchased at the 20% margin as offered. Prior to March 1, 2012, S-L refused to stock the 120 ct crackers in the warehouse. This resulted in purchasing the HP and busting them up into eaches. It also resulted in a .17 profit per unit because of the two price point. Then S-L realized this was money they could put back into their pockets. They reduced the cost to the retailer by .10 and increased the cost of the 120ct by .02 to the I/O. To date the I/O now makes a .05 on each package. The I/O paid for both the retailer's discount on the new .02 price to S-L. I did the math, I lost average of $35.00/day in margin, yes I sell that many crackers per day.
Math class time:($35*6 days*52 weeks/ 12 months)=$910/month lost just on one product line on one route. That is a mortgage payment buddy!!!!!
Now the warehouse still only stocks the HP. Doesn't really matter since the HP and 120ct cost in .24 vs..245 unit cost per package. However since the HP is a Large Format item, it only carries a 17% margin. Wait but the 120ct unit cost is the same. That means the I/O is only making 17% on the number one small format product line. What dis S-L gain only .02???(.02 x 1,000,000 crackers old per week)=$20,000(*52 weeks)=$1,040,000 per year profit on just the cracker line alone. 1,000,000 crackers/week is a conservative guess!!!
WAKE I/O's YOU ARE GETTING THE SHAFT CHALLENGE YOUR MANAGERS ON THIS MATTERS AND OTHER LIKE IT!!!
