I was just curious. Is The Snyder's of Hanover Pretzel Company doing ok? Has there been any layoffs, or employee wage or hours cut?
If there is any way you could find out and let me know, I would deeply appreciate it.
Thank you.

Discussions have been made with Utz Quality Foods concerning a possible merger of the two companies. If this was to work out it would be good for both companies especially the Snyder's distributors who will gain a quality product.

Becomeing a independent op. isn't all that it's cracked up to be.
They want you to pay to do your job. They tell you this is a great opportunity for you. Snyder's is the only one that benifits from it. If you have a distributor aggreement, you need to get it to an attorney and have him break it down for you. I think you will be quite suprised. Snyder's is the only one making moneyon this deal. Based on the way the commission is figured out. Get back to me on when you break down the aggreement.

My husband recnetly became an independent op for Snyder's and it has been nothing but grief. Paychecks fluctuate by hundreds and hundreds of dollars, one week he worked 60+ hours and didn't even get a pay check, but not one person can tell him why. They tell him "It'll work itself out next week" and it never does. We never know from week to week what his checks will be so it makes it virtually impossible to budget for a family of 4, even on my regualr income. It's been 3 months and they can not figure out his direct deposit so he is ultimately paid 4 days later than anyone else, he made approximately $1200 in ONE MONTH, but sold WELL over that for the company. They did tell him it would be this great opportunity and great money. Joke was on him, he left a $45000/year job to make less tahn $10/hour average.

They tell you what you want to hear. It nerver works itself out. Short weeks end up hurting you, and wait till he tries to go on vacation. In the agreement that your husband signed, you need to look at it very closely and see how it benefits them and not the independent operator. They don't care if your happy or not, just as long as your doing what they tell you to do. The hours are miserable, along with the expenses you have to put out for your own maintainace on your vehicle. They tell yu that your independent, but they still sit there and micro manage you to death. You really don't make any money, as they tell you, you do, when you factor in you expenses for each week and taxes. All I can say is if yur husband can get back to his old job, or something better he needs to. This is not a job you could look foward to selling off and retiring on.
Good Luck.

DO NOT DO IT. I was suckerd into the IO dis. work mistake i ever made. There were weeks I would work my ass of and never get a check, and they would just give you the run around and act like you made mistakes. They told me I had a glitch in my handheld and it was no big deal, but come to find out it was costing me money every day I worked

The problem with snyder's is they pay us on what we load not what we sell. They fail to tell you that when you are buying the route. I do not know one rep that is happy about snyder's. Everyone I know is selling there route to get out while they can. So now the new group of io's will be even more pissed off because they overpaid for the routes and make no money!!!!!

Wait till Snyder's and Lance Merge. You'll work more hours, for less money. Especially when they buy your routes back, make adjustments to them, and then make you buy them back. If your all smart, let them buy your route back, accept the loss and move on. Sell your truck or trailor, and get your life back. I'm so glad to be out of there. Cincinnati is run by family. They act like they were the ones who started up Snyders. They are nothing but a joke!!!!!!

I'm an IO in the Florida Region, my colleagues and myself are not happy with everything that's happening down here. The word is they are buying the routes back at the same ratio we got it 3 years ago.
what happen to a fair market price? The recent payout system is horrible because it flunctuates week
to week.
any info you have would be greatly appreciated?

My advise to you is to talk to a lawyer, explain the situation, see what they say. The Cincinnati distributors are all thinking the same thing. They feel that they worked hard to build there routes up and have them only pay what they originally paid for them.
Good Luck

Here in the midwest they use a 10 / 1 ratio to value the routes. For instance if the route does 5000.00 in sales a week avg. the route is then worth 50,000.00. Thats what you pay for it. If your sales rise to say 7000.00 per week avg.( when you sell ) then your route is then worth 70,000.00. A profit of 30,000.00.(this is the only way you can sell the route if you wanted to.(You cant really put your own price on it.)
Our pay fluctuates too. Many variables will affect this, especially if you carry iventory all the time. I dont, I pre write orders and then sell it all by weeks end. The way they charge you for each load is a little screwy because they dont charge you but every 3 days and you are actually owing them money all the time.
My big problem with the whole situation is that the way they value the route. They use partner brand sales figures in the VALUE of the route initially and when and if we actually lose a partner brand, that value is lost to the I.O. They should sell the routes based only on sales of Snyders brand only, or whatever brands they actually own and know they wont lose.
They are also planning to buy back routes here too...soon. We dont have a choice either, they want to add the Lance brands and charge us for them.
