I went in for a routine eye exam to find that my spouse's insurance was no longer showing me as a dependent. Since I wanted to keep the exam anyway because my prescription was pretty bad, I inquired about the cost, planning to go ahead with the exam if it was competitive and reasonable. The doctor said that he was unable to quote a price or even a ballpark price, leaving me completely open to whatever he chose to charge me. This, obviously, was not acceptable. When I refused to continue with the exam without some idea of the cost, the doctor hit me with a $75 charge for no service. I protested again stating that if the exam was a couple hundred dollars and if I was $75 into it, I might as well have it done. The doctor again refused a quote and I left $75 poorer. I can understand why he felt entitled to be compensated for his time, however this sequence of events was unprofessional and unethical in my opinion. If this is how he does business, I must question if this lack of professionalism extends into his practice. So my family will not be going back to Dr. Zelesnick, and I would not recommend him. There are too many other opthamologists to choose from.

Best Eye Exam I Ever Had!
When I entered Hanover Eyecare Center for the
first, I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff. Dr.Zelesnick was thorough and took extra time to answer my questions and address my concerns. He was very open and attentive to my needs. After I picked up my glasses, his staff even called to make sure I was satisfied. Thank you Dr.Zelesnick and Hanover Eyecare Center.

I had two horrible experiences with this office. The first was when I brought my son to his appointment. The staff was unprofessional reviewing my insurance information with me...they were confused and the staff argued over my information among each other in front of my son and I.
The second experience was before I came in for my own visit. Ahead of time I faxed all of my previous records and information from my previous Doctor. I also hand delivered a copy of this same information during my son's visit. 2 days after my son's visit they called me unable to find any of my information that was faxed and hand delivered. I explained that I personally gave it to the "boy" at the front desk...I was told he was no longer with the practice and probably took all of my paperwork. WOW! HIPPA? Receptionist told me that I needed to sign another release for my previous Doctor and have all of my information re-faxed again. With my busy schedule and frustration I was unable to do this in a timely manner. So, the receptionist took it upon herself to call. She informed me that my previous Doctor's office was very unprofessional and rude to her and that they must be a bunch of black people that work there! I was a patient there for over 12 years and were always professional to me...I was switching Doctors because I moved out of State and wanted to find someone close to home. Shocked by her racial comment we ended the call. What she didn't realize was that my husband is African American and that I was extremely offended by her comments. Why would I bring my family to a practice like this? This office has been very unprofessional and I will be looking for someone else. Being in the Dental profession for over 20 years has taught me how important customer service is...and I will be telling people the experiences I have had with this office.

Victoria, I certainly can understand your frustration especially of the racial comment, I must ask did you report this to the Doctor. I woudl find it difficult to believe he would allow such behavior in his office. As an employer he can't watch everything his employees do regardless he is responsible for the employees, but without being told this is going on how can he "fix it". Becasue someone has one or two bad employees does not make the entire company bad.
