Your Theory for this while argument is one concussion based on 10 year olds explanation??maybe that ten year old spit in someones face before he was pushed?if he was pushed maybe he was late to class was running and fell and didn't wanna tell his mom cause he's afraid of her ?most kids I know that did get bullied at school got yelled at alot mire at home but that's just my exsperance?I'm not saying it didn't happen but I believe it's a small % and I would never blame the teachers I blame the parents if you wanna take credit for the good things like my child dosnt do drugs or is well mannered and respectful or my child is a good kid then take blame for the faults as well stop trying to sue everyone!!I believe 9/11 would not of happened if everyone on the plane would of stood up and kicked 3-4 peoples ass with little pocket knives instead of sitting there eating for someone else to do it?now adays everyone is so worried about everyone else they have no idea about what's going on in there own house

Teachers DO stand by and do NOTHING and when I say nothing, I mean NOTHING! In our case more then one teacher has stood by without telling the bullies to stop, has not called the office, has not written them up, sent them to the office, etc....NOTHING! This behavior, verbal and pushing and shoving, taking swings has happened in the class room. We had to bring it to the attention of the principle ourselves. When we didn't get satisfactory results we called the police. END OF STORY.
Hmmm very interesting....if you press charges against the bully, teacher would be asked to submit a statement....wonder what the teacher would write??? Sad it this is true, just as a human being I would step in!!

You want to end over half the bullying that occurs at school?? Ban cell phones and other electronic devices during school hours. These kids can text without looking or taking the cell phone out of their pocket. Kids send stuff that they would never have the guts to say to someone's face. Allowing cell phones in the classroom has been the single biggest mistake in education in recent years.

With there fat. Parents if you font want to be picked on for being fat then loose weight. If it's the bullies parents fault then it's the cry babies fault also right?????
Once it gets physical, in my opinion....the police should get involved.....make sure colleges see this on the kids school record.....that's if the bully decides to attend college....hmmm

GEt the bullies out of the schools. Taking your kids out is giving in to the bullies!! One policy we had was, if a student bullied and did not stop his/her parents or parent had to come to school with their child for an entire day. Child could not return to school until it was done.. this was after the student had been suspended. This was a 5th and 6th grade public school. Field trips were taken away/field day was taken away/graduation to 7th grade was taken away....student could not attend. These consequences were told to all parents at the beginning of school as well as ALL the positive things for good behavior!! All students and parents signed a contract. It was effective, no not 100% of the time but it helped.

I remember when my son was in grade school and it was Valtentine's Day. Of course everyone is to exchange cards. This 'hot shot' kid stated that he was not going to give out cards on the day after all the other students passed out their cards and placed them in the 'containers.' The kids decided to take back their cards from 'hot shot.' He was upset. Mommy and Daddy had a meeting with teacher and principal. Teacher and principal told the parents to get over it. Perhaps he learned a lesson and maybe even his parents also.

You have a great point! Great idea about the colleges!Let them see that even years down the road their actions still follow them. In the real world criminal records follow people and can go against them getting certain jobs, so why not bullying? Great, great idea! That idea alone just might curb alot if not some of the madness! It also SHOULD help to get those parents involved to steer their child in a better direction insted of being a bully, if it is known that it might go against them come college time!

After this article and the posts on here, I have an overwhelming desire to kiss the administration & teachers at our school. My son is on the autism spectrum and was harassed terribly at our old school. My daughter was bullied for 2 grades until I told the principal that, the very next time it happened, she'd hit back and damn the consequences. We'll take that suspension, thank you, and have a family trip as a reward for standing up for herself. It stopped then and there.
New state, new district and we've had *one* minor bullying incident in four years. And the teacher tore apart that school trying to find out who punched my son (autism - he couldn't tell her who). Whatever the school and parents are doing here sure is working. And cross my fingers, I hope it keeps working.
Then you must not go to South West.

Agreed. Don't send your kids to SW High School. They are exactly what you describe here. Lip service.

Bullying is unacceptable. If these kids want to act like adults and be bullies, then treat them like adults and charge them with harassment, simple assault, aggravated assault, and the like.
You are EXACTLY right! My son was bullied on the bus and when I contacted the school right after it happened they never got back to me then I sent an email after a few days, addressed to multiple administrators and I rec'd a phone call a few minutes later where I was scolded and bullied by the Asst Principal at the BSMS!!! He had absolutely NO news on the situation that had occurred but took it upon himself to call me and bully me into submission which was TOTALLY out of line! You can have as many "BULLY FREE ZONE" signs hanging throughout your school walls as you want BUT when the administrators are bullies themselves, those signs and policies are complete facades for what is really going on behind those doors!!!! BSSD should be ashamed of themselves! Oh and BTW NOT one returned email or phone call from the BSSD Superintendent OR BSMS Principal!!!!

This bullying issue is just gonna get worse. As long as you have wacked out parents that say the school can't touch their kids. These parents that think it is a sin to have their kids get a paddling, you are seeing the end result. Kids and their actions start at home. Thanks mommy & daddy who think their kids are perfect.

Bullies, drugs, sex, bad teachers, taught curriculum for the feral funding testing only, all reasons I pulled out my kids and home schooled them. Both graduated with honors and one speaks fluent Japanese.

Bullying happens it's constuctive critisism and to say that people act violent as aresult of it is really a patheti excuse for there criminal actions. With that said it would be like Josh Powell story. perhaps he was bullyied by the system. There's no proof the wife is even dead. She could have set him up. Therefor I'm inclined to think he could have been an innocent man bullied by a system who was threating to lock him up for a crime they assumed was committed and take away his children who by the case workers own admision "The children lit up when they see him".
So who everwants to cry that they were bullyied consider the other side of that. People are Bullyied everyday by the system people are innocently thrown in jail only to be released after the facts prove there innocence. What ever happened to innocent untl proven guilty? It's parents of these teens that affect there behavior not the kids at school that call them names. In these cases it's obvious these people who claim they are bullied have no sence of selfworth or hope in there allegedly pathetic lives. Look at the jews in world war 2 they were bullyied more than we could ever imagine yet they still clung to at that time there lives even though they went through a living hell. I believe it's not BULLYING THATS THE PROBLEM ITS THE TRASH THATS ON TV AND IN VIDEO GAMES THAT POLUTE THE MIND. NOT A UNKIND WORD OR WORDS. ALSO LACK OF DISCIPLINE. SO lets stop this BULLYING EXCUSES AND DEAL WITH THE REAL CAUSES OF THIS UNACCEPTIBLE BEHAVIOR. OTHERWISE IT SENDS THE MESSAGE YOU CAN DO WHAT U WANT THEN CLAIM IT WAS BECAUSE YOU WERE BULLIED. COME ON WHO ISN'T BULLYIED IN THIS WORLD TODAY. PATHETC EXCUSE N MY OPINION.

I hear this all the time, it's not the TV and/or video games, it's the PARENTS being lazy. If you think a video game is bad or be it a TV show you get off your lazy ass and parent. Don't approve? Don't let your kid play or watch. Then I hear this " you can't be with your kid every second" why not? When you had sex you knew there was a chance of having a kid and you took the risk or decided to have one. Great now understand your job is more than just feeding, clothes, roof, med, you actually have to teach and guide the mind and body of the child. If this is a problem for you or you can not be with the child 24/7 if needed then don't have kids.
