Selkirk man accused of trying to run down officer

A 20-year-old Selkirk man is under arrest after he tried to run down a police officer who had stopped another vehicle, police said.

The officer who has charged this young man with all these tickets is lying!!! The young man might have done 2 or 3 of these things but never ATTEMPTED to run the officer down! How can you run someone down when he is on the right side of 9w facing north and the someone is heading south on 9w in the far lane??? I am very distraught over the situation because of the dishonesty of the officer. If you can't even trust the police dept. who can you trust?

I don't know why Mr. Brooks decided to interfere with the traffic stop. Police officers understandably do not want to be distracted when they are performing their rightful duties. That was a stupid thing to do.

However, I agree with you about the current trend of "throwing the book" at citizens. IMO police have been granted too much power and we all know the cliché about how power corrupts. I believe that the pendulum of power needs to swing back the other way a bit. The government should not be our adversary,
