i would not give CASH......not in todays world condition.the cash would probably go into someones pocket.

Sorry but I am tired of giving and giving and giving and getting absolutely nothing in return. These people need to learn how to cope without handouts. Times are tough for all of us. Get your hands out of my pockets and my wallet.

Let the Elks Lodge pay their members for sick, life and accident insurance benefits as it is required to do.
This is one of the tax exempts that cheats. The members are being cheated and the State Excise Tax is exempt from payment. Why?
This is part of you health care problems..Check USC Title 26, Secion 501(c)(8) and Hawaii Revised Statutes
237-23(a)(3) and tell me why this organization is exempt from federal income or Hawaii State Excise? Watch out for fraudulent operators. They are plentiful and willing to "separate you from you money" on scams.
Uninformed Elks members. Gutless State of Hawaii. I will never give to another non profit until the Elks pay their required membership benefits.
Citizens, don't give a dime until you absolutely know where it is going. Not a dime or a can of sardines unless you check out the organizations tax status and their complince with the law.
Call the Attorney General and check out the organization before you make any donations. They should be able to help you.

The gas stations should have one pump just for concentrated green soya liquid. When a person is hungry that person should stand in line until a state worker sticks the nozzle down their mouth until their stomach is full then go on to the next person.
The green soya liquid can be made out of stray cats, saltwater and Ewa Beach seaweed.

Still say, let the churches use their wealth to heolp those "needy". The churches pay no taxes and have lots of buildings that are rarely used. Let church goers put canned goods in the donation baskets.

I just got me 3 of them thanks to the Obama stimulus package. I always get your combo meal right and stand ready to fish your blue tooth out of the urinal. I make foot long sandwiches with the penache of Picasso and insure that your pizza is delivered in a hot and timely manner.

I am amazed at the attitude in these posts. The folks who are seeking help to feed themselves and their families are part of our Hawaii ohana. Friends, relatives and maybe even former co-workers who have lost their jobs, temporarily can't make ends meet because of the down economy or had an illness that prevented them from holding a regular job. It could so easily be us. An extra bite to eat, is that so much to ask? What happened to the aloha spirit?

Ever see one of these giveaways? It is like a big party.
Plus most standing around waiting for their free stuff are obese.

It is not temporary for most but their lifestyle.

It could not easily be a lot of people who live responsibly. They budget save just in case.
For instance, I can get a lunch at McD for $2 while my friend, who gets all the free govt stuff actually spent over $35 for a hot lunch at the Samoan store in Waipahu. That day I was eating a boca burger on a whole grain roll because I care what I look like.

I will volunteer next Sunday for the St. Andrews feeding program. It is what Christ would have us do. Any one of us can be homeless and at any time.

I respect you for that. All these negative posts toward you sometimes I have to just wonder how many of those people are down there being helped by you? One day we are on top of the world and then the very next day we may be homeless. It's very true.
