My fiancée and I had our first date at Harpoon Larry's, and the place held special meaning for us..until last night. To begin, we had to choose the smoking section as the non smoking dining "room" was filled with an extended wait for those tables, curiously it's only about 1/3 the size of the smoking side. My fiancée ordered a cluster of crab legs, I ordered a grilled tuna fillet sandwich, as we had plans afterward and we expected a fairly quick turnaround. After the first cluster was gone, and my drink was empty, my dinner was still not to be found. My fiancée ordered another cluster of crab legs, and we were ok with it so far as the waitress said "raw bar stuff always comes out first", I guess so everyone else at the table can watch. My fiancée then went thought that cluster, and I still have no dinner, dinner was about 40 minutes on the clock at the point. Luckily there was a loud obnoxious drunk woman sitting nearby for our entertainment.
After 44 minutes, my sandwich arrives, with a "lovely" overcast gray color of tuna fillet and cooked well done (ordered medium rare). The bun was stale and crumbly, the lettuce looked as though it'd been picked up out of the compost bin, and the slice of tomato was more core than fruit. The French fries could've come straight from the Ore Ida bag in my freezer. The waitress set this masterpiece down w/o barely a word and left.
After getting some condiments and replacements for the lawn clippings on my sandwich I attempted to eat the culinary work of art.
I have never had a more bland, under seasoned, overcooked or drier piece of tuna in my entire life...frozen or fresh and this must've been in the deep freeze for a few months. As far as the french fries, nobody should ever order or pay for those from Harpoon Larry's. That is unless you like greasy frozen one's from a last year. Here's a tip for Harpoon Larry's..use fresh food or just stop serving food, and here's some tips for customers...go to Red Lobster, Surf Rider or the Hampton Seafood Kitchen just avoid Harpoon Larry's at all costs. Oh and Harpoon Larry's...clean your restroom's at least once a month, the smell of stale urine does not enhance one's palate.

The best seafood place is Bill's Seafood Restaurant on Warwick Blvd., NN across from the Dollar Store. The place is very clean and the restrooms are very clean. The food are great, lots of seafood! This reataurant is by owner. This restaurant is my favorite. I hope you'll like it there. It's great!! I'm glad I never went Harpoon Larry's.

Cool we'll give it a try, we have talked about going there a couple of times as we drove by. I love hole in the wall places but the food has to there too. I've gotten some of the best meals at little family restaraunts. Excellent I know exactly where Bill's is and we'll give it a go soon. Thanks

So you went in both rest rooms?
I don't think I'd want you around my teenage daughter.

And if you complain to Harpoon Larry's about well pretty much anything, don't expect a response. If I'd read about all of their health department violations, I doubt we'd ever have gone there to begin with. Now I know where not to go.

Really don't care re what restrooms. None of my business actually.
But I agree that Harpoons is not the place it was.
And while I've known the owners of Bill's forever, and like them very much, I seldom eat there.
But more for you...

My wife and I made the bad decision to go there a coupleof weeks ago. Man it is a crap hole!! I thought maybe it was just me who thought that HL was bad but I guess not..
The service blows, and my 5 yr old daughter can make better food than they do at Harpoon Larry's. I'm just glad neither one of us got salmonella or ptomaine there. The people getting drunk at the bar seemed to be having a good time though. I don't think they noticed the roaches.

Never ever going back.

I heard that County Grill is owned by the same people. One more place in Hampton I won't go to if it is the same owner.

I've eaten at Larry's in Hampton once before, it is definitely nothing to brag about that's for sure. I don't see a reason to go back either. In the dead of winter if you sit in the non smoking section you can freeze your ass off becuase their non smoking closet has the outside door open directly into the dining area. I'd definitely not eat there! I've heard some bad things about the food prep and stories of rodents living in the kitchen. The Health Dept has gotten several complaints about that too.
Harpoon Larry's is place for the middle aged drunks and skanks to hang out, not to get food.

It's owned by the same folks as County Grill...a damn lawyer. No more needs to be said. Last time I was there...10 years or so ago, I ordered a salad with tuna. Needless to say, I didn't want the extra protein in the form of a worm. gross disgusting place. Peste is right..drunks and skanks.

I have eaten there many times and the food was great! As a matter of fact it was listed in a magazine for the top 50 places to eat in Hpt. Roads. That's how I found it.The seafood is actually fresh there, which is more than I can say for most places in Hpt.And as far as something being over cooked? that happens to me too many times to count at restaurants all over, but I always give them another try!And the County grill has the best bbq ever.I love that place too!I used to work in restaurants and you just can't please some people and those people should stay home and cook!

Must not be much of a FOODIE if you love Harpoon Larry's, I'd recommend Captain D's for you next time, unless you really just want to get ptomaine poisoning. If so continue going to Larry's. I'd eat a hot dog from a 7-11 before I'd eat at Harpoon Larry's..

Setting the bar pretty low if you love Harpoon Larry's. You may want to read the Health Dept inspections if you think the seafood there is actually fresh.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Pisces

If you want to make the best of the day you should lock yourself away and work on your own. This will make it easier to concentrate, especially if you're trying to focus on something that's fiddly or difficult. If you've got something on your mind at the moment it will be worth having a quiet word in someone's ear because they'll help you to get things into their proper perspective.
