Florida - Birth Battle: Couple Says Surrogate Mom Won't Give Up...

I pray that everything worked out for the Lamitinas. No one deserves that heartache. The surrogate's decision was inconscienable.

This is why I do not believe in surrogate births.I bet this unfortunatley happens alot more than we all are aware of.To try and get child support?extortion to the extreme.If she changed her mind about giving full custody I truly believe that won't work for extortioist.If he meaning the biological father is granted visitation rights well I hate to say but the women will most likely recieve child support.His wife would become a mom but a step-mom.If this happens they will all need cousenling imo.They will truly have to be "adult" when they are all thrown together in social situation like the childs 5th birthday.Sad all around.The other option is adoption.When your paying a stranger to carry your biological child-they should know there is always a chance the surrogate could change her mind.I guess you can not really sign a contract in these types of situations to me because if that were the case shw would have to terminate her rights immediatley after the baby was born.I am no lawyer though just my thoughts and opinions.I feel for the Lamitinas ,I hope they do not become bitter and give up.We are talking about his biological child though,I would fight tooth and nail.Take it to the supreme court if it has to go that far.

I agree with you Marsia.... the surrogate built up the hopes of these poor people then crushed them..... was it before or after she received the money that she changed her mind.....
