The surrogate mom does have the right to keep the child... But If in doing so... she should also give up all rights to any kind of support. Because the intent was for the couple to have and raise the child which is proven by the Jax, mom cashing the check.. she should do the right thing... and give the child to the couple. It is clean that they are loving and caring parents... Not intrested in the money..

I can't believe that a Florida law allows this women to change her mind about this contract, signed or not, she cashed the check. The law makers need to look at this law again. I wouldn't give her a penny.

I THINK THAT THE PARENTS WHO GAVE THIS WOMAN THE 1500 DOLLARS SHOULD GO TO COURT AND EITHER GET THE BABY OR THEIR MONEY BACK. THIS JAX WOMAN HAD NO INTENTION OF GIVING THEM THE BABY , SHE JUST WANTED SOMEONE TO PAY THE BILL FOR HER. SHE IS A DISGRACE TO MOTHERHOOD.

This is Very Sad that a Person could be so Mean that she would want to hurt these people. And then she has the nerve to ask for Child Support. What is this Society coming too that we are Lying to get what WE want. May the Lord Comfort this Family during this time.

I feel so sorry for this couple. I hope the judge gives them full custody and makes her pay them back the 1500 just for what she has put them through.

I hope that this child finds out one day what her "mommy" did. This woman doesn't deserve this child, doesn't deserve the money, doesn't deserve to be called human.

What a crock...how do you live with yourself after doing something like this? No heart, no conscience, no brain.

You know what keeps my spirits up after reading something like this? She'll get hers...one day, maybe not today, tomorrow, maybe not a year from now...but mark my words, she'll get hers. She's got it coming, and I can't wait till she gets it...piece of crap.

Unfortunately, it appears she does have the right to keep the child since it was her egg that was combined with the father's sperm. That makes HER the biological mother...not just a surrogate.

I personally don't believe she should get anything...either money OR child...since she is obviously just a gold digger looking to make some money and obviously doesn't have the best interests of the child at heart. The couple should have the child and their $1500 back.

Florida lawmakers REALLY need to look at the law about this one. If they don't let the loving parents who really want her have her, she will end up like her biolgical mother...a scam artist... because that is all she will know.Shame on the State of Florida if they can't see through this horrible person. God will punish her one day for using an innocent baby to make money. And the poor couple who have had thier hearts broken. I pray for you as well.

Shame on the State of Florida lawmakers if trhey give this child to her greedy biological mother. I have seen first hand what women like that can do to kids...turn them into greedy mothers like themselves.
I pray for the couple to get the baby back!!!

A surrogate mother should have the right to change her mind. This particular woman should not be able to change her mind. She intentfully took their money and tried to collect child support. She had no intentions of giving up the baby. It is still her baby though so the couple is kind of outta luck as far as that goes. But the woman should definately have to pay the couple back, she should not be able to collect child support and she should do some kind of jail time for fraud. I just don't understand how anything like this could fly in court. The couple should have checked more carefully for a signature. There should be more laws protecting couples like this and it's a shame that someone could play on someone's emotions for the sake of money, $1500 at that. God, if the court let that woman keep her baby, you could only imagine what kind of life that baby would have with a sick and twisted mother like that. I feel sorry for this couple.

I think not old the state of Florida, but all states should review and do something about the laws when it comes to adoption. Because of horror stories like this and many, many more, people would rather adopt from outside the US rather than adopt all of the children we have in foster care here in the US due to the adoptive parents having no rights. Until some things change with adoption laws here in the states, we will continue to see not only the celebrities like Angelina Jolie & Madonna but every day couples continue to go outside the USA to adopt.

The courts should look at this case and other adoptive cases gone bad. This is why people go overseas to adopt and we have more children in foster care than we have foster homes for. The people of the United Stated are afraid to adopt from within the USA for fear of loosing the child they love as their own. The mother can be a crack head that lost her child, the child is placed with a great family and 2 years down the road, the mom can decide to clean up and the state will take that child out of the stable, safe home, give them back to a mother they do not know only to have her go back on crack the first time life get rough. It is no wonder that the foster care system is so overwhelmed and everyone including the stars are going overseas to adopt. WAKEUP COURT SYSTEMS!!!! Until something is changed in the US, our foster care system will continue to be overwhelmed.

Is there no legal punishment, for the 1500 that she stole from them?
Not that this could even begin to lessen their pain.......

This woman is a disgrace to all the surrogant mothers out there. It is a gift to be able to give a loving family a child they can not have on their own. I hope when this goes to court the father is awarded full custody of this little girl. She was never wanted by the mother, the mother just saw $$$$ in her eyes. The sad part is if the father gets custody the low down piece of trash mother will get some sort of visitation. I hope they make HER pay child support!!!!

I think that the mom should give up her baby, she should have thought about it before she made up her mind...
