I DON'T AGREE WITH THE DRESS CODE. I THINK IT'S NOT RIGHT FOR MAURY CO. BECAUSE IT'S MAKING STUDENT MAD. I KNOW STUDENTS DON'T LIKE DRESS CODE. IF THEY CHANGED DRESS CODE. THEY WILL GET REALLY VIOLENT IN THE SCHOOL. I BELIEVE THAT WILL HAPPEN TO ANYONE. I THINK MR.WOLAVER IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO CONTROL IT. I DISAGREE WITH IT. I DON'T AGREE WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD. LOT OF PEOPLE THINK IT 'S SAFE AS THEY CHANGED IT. TO ME I DON'T AGREE WITH IT

The people at my child's school have threatened the kids if they do not go along with the new dress code next year, they will have to wear jumpsuits. (Yes, like in prison.)

We live in Louisiana. My children are in 5th, 1st & Kindergarten. They have always had to wear a uniform. I personally do not like it. To me they don't get to have their own personality, so to say. Everyone has to look the same. No, I don't think so. Stricter rules for street clothes can be enforced. I can buy Hollister at the Goodwill & who would know.

if parents wouldve monitored what there kids wore in the first place then it wouldnt have come to the point of a dress code...but parents are afraid to stand up and say no to their choice of clothes...and since when are parents and teachers supposed to care if they make a student mad or upset them they didnt when i was in school and that wasnt that long ago....

I personally do not agree with with this dress code, espially since that it is in elementary schools...Kindergarden is a time of blossoming for children, and with uniforms it seems to hold that back. What is this teaching children at that age? "Blend into society,do not strike out in some strange way" In the high schools, generally good students are given detentions and given "I.S.S" simply because they had forgotten their belt one too many times...How is that fair? I do not support the idea that a select few students have to ruin it for the rest...Taking color, forcing on belts, and tucking in shirts is pointless...I truely believe we should bring back individuallity back into our schools.
Aside from that, how is this helping education? How did the dress code before hinder it? If you believe this helps children because it causes them not to pay attention to eachother's clothing, then you are wrong. They still look at eachother's shoes, bags, hair, jewelry, they even look at where they bought their polos...Adults do the same thing even when they're in suits. I think this dress code causes more of a problem because all students do is complain and try to push it to the edge. Unless you plain on making all the children wear jumpsuits and sandles, then you'll never change them. |

I think all schools everywhere should require uniforms. It just makes sense. It cuts out so much bs. 1. Like someone said earlier, it keeps the less fortunate kids from feeling inferior because they're not wearing designer labels. 2. It keeps the bratty kids from making fun of anyone for what they are wearing.(and they do this in elementary schools) 3. It lessens the problem of cliques and rival cliques based on style of dress.
I'm all for it. I think clothing has absolutely zero to do with the development of a child's personality. That sounds like another reason for uniforms to be required. Personalities should be formed based on feelings, interests, values. The kids will have all the rest of the day and weekends and summers (not to mention their whole lives after graduation) to express their personalities via fashion. jmo. |

Do you think maybe if they didn't have a dress code, that most students may wear whatever! It may be called rebellion, in the bible, in matthew 24 I do believe. just a suggestion, can people imagine what would happen without some guidelines. No I am not a whollier than thou either! students need to know it is for the future outcome for the children as well.keep it clean Is a good basic to start with. |

I think uniforms, re: dress code, is a wonderful thing. It puts the focus where it should be, and that is on the EDUCATION of our children. My children go to a private Lutheran school, it teaches them to care about their appearance, i.e., be modest, not gang-banging, not caring about designer labels. They are in school to get the education that will prepare them for life, and yes I agree that it should start in elementary school. I am not really concerned about my child's individuality, I am concerned that they will be a respectful, decent member of society. Wearing their underwear outside of their pants, and having purple hair and 16 body piercings will not do that. |

i would think the dress code came about because of girls wearing revealing clothing showing off thier assets and boys that want to wear pants that reveal thier butt crack. so they brought it upon themselves.
