When will dolton cry broke like their neighboring town.

WE are no one knows yet! But soon they will.

If they got rid of all the over paid politicians and lawyers and entourage of nobodys' they would not have a problem..cough cough shaw!!!! What the hell does he do to earn the compensation he gets. Our towns go broke because of all these 70 and 80 year old men just wanting to go on their power trips. OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW!!!! Regardless of what you may think change starts at the top..O and just asking how many cases has the village attorney won? Hmmmmm and this person makes how much?

Im moreso worried about it being the next Harvey

These politicians get pensions from each job they have had. So why do we keep running and robbing the towns they come too. OH could it be we have DRUNK IT UP OR LOSSED IT AT THE BOATS. While the people struggler with day to day bills. They just keep raping the town!!!! |
||||
|
look I grew up in dolton and so did my parents. It was fine when i was a kid but i will tell EVERYONE I would not show my son were I come from because it is not something to proud of now!!! The people elected these chuckle heads that dont care and all they want is money. Where are the jobs and buisnesses going to? The revenue is lost due to the fact that there is no buisness there anymore!! Nobody wants to open a buisness were they will get robbed at gun point and maybe lose their lives!! Dolton is run down and will never be brought back to life. It will seep into the abyss of garbage due to the fact that nobody took a stand against the shaws or any other dardos' for that matter!! Think about this people. Even Don Hart was not this bad!!
|
||||
Just to clarify to you I do not gamble or drink! I work to hard for my money to give it away! And I also struggle with my bills like everyone else! Also if they keep raping the town why do people keep electing them on their empty promises? |
||||
So you are a elected politicians get pensions from each job they have had.And live in Dolton? What have you done to help Dolton ? Have you stood up to the Shaws or were you just a friend and did not one thing to help Dolton! |
||||
| ||||
|
What have you done? Anything evidently not! I served for that community in two different ways so dont run your mouth like you know! I left because it is not worth the aggrevation or headaches anymore! Also learn how to talk "So you are a elected politicians get pensions from each job they have had" I beleive you mean that I am aware that their pensions are from previous jobs. And yes I know, I have seen the politics game since I was a kid running literature for the concerned party of dolton, the original concerned party of dolton! O also I played football,baseball,and wrestled for every dolton sport since i was of age to do so and was involved in charities! How about you mouth? How long have you lived there? What have you done? Not long enough to do something obviously. Go back to school and learn how to type!!! The town destroyed itself from within!

I completely agree with you, Corruption. My husband and I lived in Dolton for 12 years, we were homeowners and we volunteered at the schools and the Park District. I was there when Shaw tore down the baseball field because of a disagreement with the head of the park district and left it to rot. What about the water park? Apparently, that was a crock of garbage...who wants to have a water park on that chemically polluted land anyway? He wanted to build a golf course...are you serious and we don't even have decent computers and lighting at the library? I live in another town now and it makes me see even more how sorry and sad a community Dolton had become. I lived on the South Side of Chgo, North shore (Gold Coast), and Calumet City...I also lived in South Dakota and now Iowa and it makes no sense to me that a community of middle class black people could be so bamboozled that they allowed a perfectly good community go down the toilet. I don't blame section 8...I blame the original Homeowners and primary residents who allowed this to happen because black folks always want to turn their nose up at the next black man...but don't want to own up to their own role in this mess...Most of You OLD Dolton Residents were the ones voting Shaw in again and again...Not the section 8 people.

If YOU and YOUR family live in another part of the country leave US alone. YES, I am one of the original WHITE family members living still in Dolton, Illinois. I mind my own business and Crystal, you are not the only couple to have lost your home here. Alot of people that I know (citizens of Dolton), have FORECLOSED. With ALL of this crime here in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs--WE have to learn to get along together. STOP taking the economy problems on each other. TRY and keep doing the BEST everyone can...Crystal, keep room for the current residents of Dolton to voice their opinions here and start some shit in the flatlands!! Mayor Shaw has gone on, Mayor Lewis is trying to change things, Chief Fox, also trying to change issues here. Maybe everyone should keep their eyes on what is going on near and around your homes and if you see anything strange call the DOLTON POLICE. That is what you are suppose to do--until US responsible residents can ALL carry guns again, and then the hoodlums will be afraid to approach our properties, to steal. |

1 Many problems can be reduced if the parents act as an example for their children as to what to do. Don't throw your trash out of the car window, throw it away when you get home. Don't glorify drug dealing-it's a dangerous occupation where you are always looking over your shoulder against rival gangs and the police. Stress the importance of school, learning to read, write and speak well. An honest living is achievable no matter what obstacles are in your way. Don't take the easy wrong over the hard right. Also, don't be a passive citizen, be involved in local helpful organizations. Play in sports, learn to play music, write, draw or use your talent to improve Dolton's quality of life. Shovel snow and cut the grass for those who can't. Watch out for those who take advantage of others. There's many ways to help people, which will help heal Dolton! |

What are you talking about? You are ranting and raving and not really making sense. I lived in Dolton for over 12 years. I owned my home and was active in the community. I still have connections to Dolton and the South Side of Chicago...so I will comment whenever and where ever I feel that I want to. I still care about PEOPLE regardless to what town I'm representing and I have concern and care for the community that I once called my home. I have found opportunities elsewhere to do the things I need to do, so I can come back and make the communities that I care about better. I am almost positive I will have more of an impact on the state of YOUR community, than what YOU are doing right now...so don't hate because apparently you have some pinned up issues about where you are at with regards to location and probably life. Trust me I am abreast of the transitioning and continued issues in Dolton, Illinois, Doltonite!!

Oh my bad, Doltonite...I read your post again...and I must have called YOU OUT as ONE OF THOSE OLD DOLTON RESIDENTS who like to blame the whole current state of DOLTON on section 8 people and OTHERS and YOU must be one of the ORIGINAL RESIDENTS that don't take accountablility for YOUR own actions or lack-there-of that may have contributed to part of this mess in the first place...now I see why you are so angry...I understand now. I just call it like I see it and if I stepped on you toes? Then evaluate YOURSELF.

Did you say you live in Dolton? |

JR, Thank you for asking! I am currently serving in our Armed Services-I left Dolton to serve. As far as Calumet City goes-they took great strides in correcting a wrong. It's a far from perfect town, but they did tear down "the strip" and redeveloped it from a bunch of sleazy bars and night clubs into an industrial district. With that they removed much of the prostitution, drugs, thugs and now have some tax producing business's. Tearing down downtown Dolton isn't quite the answer, due to the fact that it's in the middle of a residential area and not a good area for industry (limited transportation options) but ripe for new business and redevelopemnt. Removal of some of the older decrepit buildings may be in order and new buildings put in there place. A new drugstore should be able to make it there.(There used to be a drugstore in town at 142nd & Chicago RD.) Since Jewel shutdown, a new, decent grocery store near downtown Dolton would be a great conveniance It sure seems that Dolton could use some decent medical services again also. The area where Tri-City bowl and the old clinic are should be torn down and redeveloped into a light industrial park. The railroad tracks are in place there and 138th Street goes from I-57 to Cottage Grove and getting to westbound I-94 would be no problem. The old Kaiser Aluminum (Indelux) now being demolished, would better lend itself better to new industry than a water park. A water park would do much better in a location such as where the old Kmart building is. |
||||
Thank you for serving in the Army. You are right I like how Cal City cleaned up 142nd St. The water park will never happen it still in court. They are putting a Food for Less where the old Kmart Store was. It will be opening soon but it if a TIF that is low to no taxes back to the schools, park, public works, police, fire,library for a number of years. Yes and I would like to see the bars in Dolton who prey on young people to close for good! All most 1/2 of Sibly in in a TIF. It does not help the Communty. Be safe out there and THANK YOU again. |

1 Chief Fox is trying to change things ?. You mean Bob shaw's protege. Who do think has been hiring all these police misfit's we keep reading about . Who wont shut down the nite-clubs that have been a scourge on Dolton ?. A police chief who has never been a police officer. Yea thats the answer. |

I grew up in Dolton. It has changed alot. I'm actually a Real Estate Investor and in a few years start a Dolton youth wrestling team, like the Harvey Twisters, I also plan to open a few other businesses that will increase job opportunity. Its actually sad to see how fast Dolton is sinking.

Remember the Golden Bowl Restaurant in the down town? As a kid my pops worked there as a cook. But my opinion of the town is the criminal element has moved in and does not know anything besides gangs, drugs. South suburbs are being destroyed all over. It is sad!
