"Unnaturally colored hair, extreme or distracting make up."

How does that include this boy's haircut?

First of all... WHO DEY!!!:o)

Secondly, how RIDICULOUS!!!! Suspending a kid and keeping him out of class over THIS is beyond bizarre!!!! Those school "officials" (and I use the term lightly) need to have their heads examined! If I were his parent, I would be OUTRAGED. Ohio law says kids HAVE to be in school -- and then they're sending someone HOME over this?? Huh....!?!!

Iam the artist/barber responsible for the "helmet head" hairstyle.I think its sad that this underpriviledged kids inexpensive way to express his love for his home team has offended people. If the principles child likes a team they most likely get the jersey for $55,at the least! He didnt have the money, nor his family, so we simply inprovised with a cheap alternative. He proudly showed me his report card that had only As and Bs! I was proud and wanted to make him feel special so we agreed on the design and now we're here!!! Is there really a difference between expressing yourself through your clothing and expressing yourself through a haircut? The reality of the matter is that most kids in Hamilton dont have the resources to afford the expensive jerseys and clothing that some kids have so what better way to express themselves than an inexpensive haircut.Relax people this is America, not China!!!!! Where individuality is a must!!!

Would the football team be suspended when they shave their hair before a big game? Guess team spirit is only for the school. What's up Mr. Pricipal? Don't like the Bengals?

Nice thoughtful post from the helmet head barber.
What is it with the academic liberal types. They want to totally control and indoctrinate our children into their mold. This school system should be taken to court and forced to have only appropriate rules in their school code of ethics. The school has gone way overboard in their actions and must be held accountable - jointly and severally - both the elected board and the individual members of the board and in particular the principal. Otherwise this liberal nonsense will not only continue but expand in our schools. It is way past time to set a strong example.

If this was my child we would be in court, this is so flipping silly. SCHOOLS get a grip, focus on the more important things. What you don't have mis- behaving students disrupting any of the classes that you can focus on??? no deliquents? No students that could use this extra attention? You can better apply your energy in helping the children not condeming them for a "themed" haircut...

Isn't this the time when our children are leaning who they are? And to squash that idea is beyond stupid. Do they want the next generation to all be look-alike robots? If my daughter wanted to do some "creative" haircoloring when she gets older - I'm not going to stop her and if the school kicks her out then I may just have to look into the online school.....which won't help with her socialization but at least there won't be dumb arsed rules like this one and she can express herself....

It's distracting to the other students! That's the big deal! The focus becomes this child and his head, not the teacher and what they are there for. Our schools are far too lax these days, I stand behind the school. What's wrong with these parents? Why would they support such. Get him a jersey to support his team!

This kid is underprivileged, so he doesn't have to follow the rules set out by his school?! Rules that he was well made aware of? Give me a break. That's what's wrong with our society. If you're poor, you don't have to follow the rules.

NO WAY! Are you kidding me? I seen this and had to read this. Are you telling me that this country doesnt have OTHER things to worry about with children in school?

With guns and campus blood baths and kids getting jumped and beaten. Drugs and our children throwing their lives away on them.

And they are worried about a HAIR CUT??????????

HEY HAMILTON be happy THAT IS ALLLL that you have to worry about Geesh.

I second that! A rule is a rule is a rule....follow it! If more people did that, this country would not be the mess it is today. Also, I dont see bengal stripes on the sides of his head.....maybe the back, but the sides are def not bengal stripes.

The closer I get to the school officials the dumbered they become. They will probably suspend a kid for not going to school. I guess they should outlaw all football jerseys and the like as distracting. Maybe the teachers should work on educating the kids and make their lesson plans more interesting so the kids wouldn't be distracted.
