Yes, I am sick of those Republiturds too. That is why the Conservatives are out to throw them out and let them go be the good little turd-world Marxists they really are for the Dumacrat/Socialist Party.

Typical elitist pablum Alan. "greener, more enlightened General Plan"
How many more businesses would you like to see closed for your "plan"?
Are you going to create the jobs needed to help put Chicoans back to work?
Chico will have no future if we stop businesses from expanding. Chico is growing and needs jobs to support that growth.

Antitrust laws prohibit a company from selling below cost in order to drive out competitors. It's called predatory capitalism and it leads to LESS competition. That's what consumers who question Walmart's motives are concerned about, among other issues.
So now you are accusing Walmart of selling below cost and breaking antitrust laws?
Walmarts motives are the same as Winco, Food Maxx and Costco... making a profit. And what other issues other then Costco and Winco don't want the competition?

Oh my God! Build the damn Wal-Mart and put a disc golf course in it. That'll stop both issues! ENOUGH!
Hey, why stop there? Let's make it a true "one-stop shopping" experience for controversial issues past and present.

Build bicycle tunnels to get there, add a half dozen roundabouts on the streets nearby, bulb the intersections in the vicinity, put Studebaker strips in the crosswalks, decorate the neighborhood with more art that doesn't depict our area in any way, hang giant windchimes nearby, put in fountains and veterans' monuments, have officers on motorized cycles patrolling the parking lot, and last but certainly not least - move the Saturday Farmer's Market to the lot next door. Right next to the new disc golf course...

Joe you are wrong walmart sells items at very similar pricesto the other stores, the difference is they can sell more items on sale than the others.the other stores advertise certain items on sale just to get you the store and figures since you are there you will buy other items at regular prices. All companies do that but walmart is big enough to they will have sales on several items or more, To me thats better I can save money and do my more shopping with the money I have saved.I say whats wrong with that its the american way esp with the economy that we are in now "its all about saving a buck"

Paula, what is it you are "just sayin'"? How is your remark any more intelligent than Stephens' or mine? I think, like most of us here, you just like to hear the sound of your own patter.

Antitrust laws prohibit corporations from getting together on price fixing. I know that there is a legal lower limit to the price of milk. This is the first I have heard of a general prohibition on below cost pricing. Which exact law are you referring to? It is too bad it doesn't apply to cars. The Japanese took the US auto market by selling car for less than cost. Their car used to be much cheaper in the US than Japan.

When did this law pass? Retailers price some products below cost as a regular business practice. These advertised specials are to get you to their store where they make profit on all of the rest of the items that you buy. Walmart isn't alone in doing this. The biggest advertising misdirection I see at Walmart is the impression that all of their prices are the lowest around. That is most definitely not the case. Walmart is now advertising that they will meet any lower advertised price you find for the same item. Hardly a deal since Walmart has special model number products that only they sell. You can find a 40" Sony TV for less than Walmart but it will not be the same model number.

Why do Walmart's shirts fit so badly?

I think that is the paranoia that these huge billion dollar corporations that are competing against Walmart are selling to the middle class in order to protect their own interests. My guess would be that Costco is mainly to blame. People shopping at Costco, or even S&S, Trader Joes, and Chico Natty are like "I'm so middle class that I don't have to shop at Walmart." Those are the people that somehow get fed the preconceived idea that Walmart is going to suck them somehow back to the lower class, or turn America into a world of conformity. What a joke. The shrinking, highly opinionated middle class isn't much better than the poor class. The rich are manipulating you just as much, if not more.
