I'm just shocked that the disc golfers have anything to repair or clean up. According to the majority of them they informed the public there is no harm done with their sport on the oaks or the ground. Now they are seeing a trail problem??? That property is so warn down with trails going in any direction. They got their way by deceiving the public.

What? 24 exclusive days for our park to devote to one group of users? I pay taxes and will go there on any day I chose to. I don't care how many hours or how much money they put in to fixing what they have destroyed, I will be there when I want to. They will probably have kegs on those "exclusive" days, so just show up with a bag of discs, and get your red cup ready.

More blowhards who don't know what they are talking about. Why am I not surprised. Hopefully those with common sense will know that it is not "our park" that is being talked about here. It is only the disc golf course. Have you been to any meetings? Have you read the agreement? DO you have any common sense at all?

By they way, were you up there helping yesterday? I will bet not.

I checked out the course last weekend and it has improved. I hope the people volunteering on the course consider doing the same for other parts of the park.
I would like to see more patrols of the course to make sure things are safe and the alcohol ban is enforced.
WOW!! You were up there last weekend checking up on us?! And so here you are again complaining about this and that and yet you cannot get up off of your dead ass and help out this weekend?! I think that until you come out and help, and be able to prove that you were really there you should shut up.

Great to hear of volunteers helping out.
On the city webite, an agreement with the disc golf non-profit is on its way to a meeting this week.
Interesting to note that it includes a "General Public Availability Requirements section that gives the non profit excusive use of the land on up to 24 days a year. Have a look! So this means that hikers and bikers are banned?
http://www.chico.ca.us/government/minutes_age...
Maybe you should have also pointed out the "Permission Not Exclusive" section right above the "General Public Availability Requirements" section. At least the "up to 24 days" or the "must submit a list of the exclusive use dates to the City on an annual basis on or before February 1 of each year." statements in that section. But nooooo, you have to try to incite a riot by making it sound like it is more than it actually is.

....for not being logical. The "Permission Not Exclusive" section is above the other, but in the following one, it clearly states that this one user group has "ORIA shall have exclusive use of each course for up the twenty-four (24) days per years. ORIA shall submit a list of the exclusive use dates to City on an annual basis on or before Februrary 1 of each year."

So, help me out, how is this not giving a huge chunk of Bidwell Park to a one user group on up to 24 days of the year, days that they get to pick? Funny you think this would start a riot. No, just want to point out some facts, so chill out already.

It's "ORAI" and no one is giving a "huge chunk of Bidwell Park" to any one user for any number of days. They are ONLY talking about the disc golf courses up on Highway 32.
It also says that ORAI has to pay for annual studies. And the maintenance, and to build the courses. But all anyone can seem to point out is that they are being given UP TO 24 days per year to do fundraisers, maintenance, and maybe a picnic for the MEMBERS of the non profit who are doing the work. After all, wouldn't it be logical to close the course for maintenance during the year?
If people like you are going to spred outrageous lies like "huge chunk" then people like me are going to call you out on your lies and put the truth out there for everyone to read.

Oh my, aren't you touchy! It is a huge chunk of the park in my opinion, much bigger than Caper Acres, Sycamore pool, the softball fields, the municipal golf course, and other developed rec sites. Pretty outrageous lie! WHEE! You get your buttons pushed at any little comment.

The other users in the park, equestrians, golf course, pay for all of their facilities too, so this is no big sacrafice, it should be expected.

Hahaha if the closures will be for work. Wait and see. Picnics, maybe. Exclusive use for one sport, for sure. Just my predictions. OK, what is your rant this time?

Once again, acres of our public Bidwell Park will be given to one user group, for UP to 24 days a year, days of their chosing. Wanna bet there will be 24 days mapped out every Feb. 1st? With no incentive not to get them, why not get exclusive use of all the days? That way, those pesky public members will not be able to be in the way.

Since when are the courses on 32 NOT Bidwell Park?

Lon Glazner is the king of fear-mongering deceptive lies. His disc golf "fact sheet" was a masterpice of deception and fear....Rove and Goebbells would be EXTREMELY proud of these guys.

On the other hand, Gregg Payne is a simple-minded, self-impressed dood (but his big goofy ponytail sure is pretty). Hey Gregg, as a sidenote, your old schoolbus and collection of oil-leaking, unregistered "antique" cars are hogging up the neighborhood and polluting our creeks....dood. Like...outta site...outta mind dood. You should be reported to the Chico police so they can haul your oil-leaking unregistered cars and that crappy old schoolbus out of the neighborhood (where taxpaying property owners cannot park). Or do you believe you own that public land too? Wouldn't surprise anybody you self-entitled egomaniac.

Anyway, together, Lon and Gregg lick your plate clean. SO, in the meantime, open your pocketbooks and get ready to continue forking over your tax dollars to support these overgrown kids and their expensive, ruinous playground.

Gregg, about the schoolbus and cars...dood.

I think if you actually read my posts on this thread, you would see I have volunteered for park clean up. I said I would not volunteer for course work because of all the fun loving, pure and victimized disc golfers who have threatened me with violence and death.

One of my big beefs with the disc golf issue is just how people have an over inflated view of the issue's importance. Proponents shout down and attack anyone who defies their motives or methods.

If I go to site, you are going to have to get over it. You have no more of a right to the course than I do. It is not yours alone.

Is anyone concerned about how much time and money Chico spends on their public golf course or courses?

Is anyone concerned about the environmental damage and waste caused by the Chico public golf course or courses?

Does anyone wonder why so much public money is spent on a sport that is played by so few?

Can anyone explain why disk golf is the cause of so much "concern" to certain people who, in turn, often refuse to consider or discuss the fact that traditional golf is far more expensive and destructive than disk golf?

Does anyone find it odd that Chico continues to spend so much time and effort fighting against minor issues such as the Walmart Super Center and disk golf when the city is awash in crime and unemployment?

Yes I do. And that is a good part of why I post. I want the regular golf course moved out of the park.

Municipal course pays the city of Chico OVER 40,000 a year. No, city is not concerned over this course that was put in over 60 years ago.

Dick golf is a concern because it is destructive to the environment it was put into, and has pages and pages of things to fix that it is messing up.

That's the short story.

The long story is that the Chico ball golf course has been polluting and has destroyed Annie Bidwell's gift to our city for a long long long time as the poster above has stated, 60 years. Taking a large percentage of the heart of the park. All just so a "Very Few" of our local elite uppity ups havers can have there special needs catered to.Taking it away from the have notes. I say it is time to plow that course under. To quote another poster golf courses are a dime a dozen but we only have one Bidwell park.
DISC GOLF has a good place on 32, and I like it there. Remove all the mandated restrictions and regulation on it so it can be played anywhere as it is meant to be and there would be even less damage (if there is any at all) there.

Are saying that the Chico Municipal golf course is entirely supported by the user fees they take in?

The fact is that ball gold courses are far more destructive to the environment than disk golf courses. Most disk golf courses use little or none of the water, herbicides, and fertilizers that ball golf courses do. Disk golf courses also make little or no use of club houses, lawn mowers, golf carts, and non-native plantings. This is not to mention the fact that disk golf courses take up far less acreage than ball golf courses do.

Again, I find it odd that so many you "anti-disk golf" people fail to address the above facts.

The younger generation will soon be outvoting the older generation. Just remember this fact when these younger voters start voting ball golf courses into oblivion.

I do not smoke weed and I drink better beer than Mickeys. The 32 campaign was evil and filled with lies. But there is nothing wrong with playing disc golf!

Maybe the 32 site proponents are right about some of you hating people having fun.

The Hwy 32 Site Campaign was pure, unadultrated, fear-mongering propaganda. Lon Glazner proved himself the king of half-truth. His Disc Golf referendum "fact sheet" is testimony to his slippery character. He'll make a successful politician..you wait and see.
On the other hand...Gregg...about that old schoolbus and oil-leaking Cars. Should an apartment-dwelling-prince demand so much of his poperty-owning, tax-paying neighbors who have a hard time parking?
