Rural residents concerned about high tension power lines

Save Rural Wantage has just learned of a major new project that could seriously impact the quality of life in Wantage, Montague and Lafayette.

PSE&G is looking at these towns as a route for a high-tension power line to connect Pennsylvania with Essex County, N.J. This line would carry a staggering 500,000 volts and would produce a magnetic field (EMF) in the vicinity of the line. There is little agreement in the scientific community as to whether magnetic fields are dangerous to human health.
The towers will be an amazing 200 feet high! Obviously this will impact local residents whether or not the line runs through their own property. It is clear that this project would have a serious detrimental effect on property values throughout the area.

Once this route is chosen, we can only speculate as to what happens to our local residents who do not want to voluntarily cede a right-of-way through their property.
This route may be selected in as little as a few weeks from now.
Having just learned of this plan, Save Rural Wantage has no further information at this time. We will forward more details as they become available to those who sign up at our Web site, www.SaveRuralWantage.com

Would'nt happen, It makes to much scence ! Here's the latest....Save Rural Wantage has just learned that there will be a meeting to discuss the proposed 500,000 volt power line to run through
Wantage, Lafayette and Montague.
We received the following message from the Wantage Township manager:
Public Workshop Scheduled with PSE&G to discuss Proposed New Power Line.

PSE&G has agreed to hold a Workshop in Wantage Township to discuss the proposal for establishing a new 500 kilovolt power line.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.,
at Beemerville Firehouse, 227 Route 519, Wantage, New Jersey.
As you can see, PSE&G will be in attendance.
Please plan to attend. Spread the word to everyone you can.
Our very best hope to stop this terrible project is to let PSE&G
know NOW that we are UNITED in our opposition.
Please email your response letting us know that you plan to attend and that
you will convince others to attend also.
Save Rural Wantage will send more updates as they become available.
